5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Runs Great. Can max settings on most games.
Whole computer seems to run faster now.
I got it for under $100 with Rebates.
GDDR4 is definitely the way to go, much faster than GDDR and GDDR2.
I read that some games require over 256mb of videocard memory, so I went with this model with 512 instead.

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: I went from a Radeon x1550 to this. Using the same settings in Oblivion I went from 15 fps to 85 in 1024x768. Even at 1280x1024 at the highest settings I get FPS in the high 50s.

3 out of 5 eggsPlease read: HD3870 isn't worth it, low benchmarks, low fps, poor drivers and customer service

Pros: Comes with vga, dvi, hdmi converters, crossfire bridge (everything) and well packaged by newegg..
1100 mhz memory for higher resolutions is a plus, average 60-100 fps in COD4, 50-85 fps COD World at war and 150+ fps in Valve steam games: day of defeat source at a 1680X1050 resolution with 8X antistropic on. the card runs hot while gaming around 69C even with fan at 50%.
I have a e8500 at 3.999ghz and a raptorHD with 1200mhz ddr2 ram so I'm not bottle necking the card, it Just CANNOT perform well n games, unless you're considering crossfire 2 of these cards then you'll have low fps in todays games I promise you..

Cons: Texture artifacts in CODWAW around the water in maps with both my visiontek hd3850 and now my diamond hd3870, so I no its more than likely a catalyst driver issue than a hardware issue.
Card runs hot because of 770 core.
Very low benchmarks in 3d mark06 and 3d mark vantage.
Customer service is lacking.

Other Thoughts: My really good friend gave me his BFG tech 8800 gts OC since he bought a newer gtx series card for himself, so I installed his 8800gts 512 on my board and my system flys, average nearly double the fps in every game with the 8800gts over this card, never under 100fps max settings in COD4 & WaW and the card is priced 25 dollars more 164.00 on Newegg, So basically what I'm saying is I've been a ATI customer for nearly 4 years now and im soo disapointed with these last two hd 3870 and hd 3850's i've bought (performance wise) that im never buying ATI again.
Unless you're on a Low budget Go nvidia you wont regret it.
System specs:
Antec 900 Case
Biostar T Power I45 mobo
Intel core 2 duo e8500 @ 3.999ghz
Thermaltake 760IS all-n-1 H2o cooling
2X Raptor 10k HD in raid 1
OCZ Flex ddr2 1200 mhz OC ram
BFG Tech 8800 gts 512 OC

2 out of 5 eggsCard went bad after 30 days, no response from Diamond

Pros: The card worked as advertised and was great for the 1st 60 days...then I started having texture problems in certain games and applications.

Cons: Diamond never sent me my 15.00 rebate. I have been unable to get them to contact me back concerning RMA'ing this. I setup 2 trouble tickets on their site and still have gotten no response.

Other Thoughts: I wouldn't recommend any Diamond product. Newegg is great, but If you can't get support from the manufacturer, don't buy.

5 out of 5 eggsSolid Card

Pros: Installed 2 in crossfire. Benchmark went to max with an Intel DX38BT MOBO. Had 2 2900 XT in crossfire originally and it blew them away. Running 4GB of RAM for Window XP Pro 64bit but runs games better in Windows XP 32bit. Drives my 24 inch HD monitor fine (HP w2408h) HDMI. When Benchmarking the entire system, these cards helped the overall performance dramatically as opposed to earlier cards. Very few issues with the ATI\AMD recent drivers, but the drivers that come with the cards slow down system and benchmark results. Better to immediately download and install the latest drivers and leave the old ones in the box, uninstall everything including chipset support if old drivers were attempted. Recommend a good 600 watt or above PS, these cards need extra peak at times.

Cons: Old drivers that come with the card may work, but ATI\AMD did an overhaul on the performance with new drivers Catalyst 8.10 or above. Old drivers reduce detail and do not tweak as well.

Other Thoughts: I reccommend sticking with known MOBO manufactures like Intel or AMD if you are going to use these cards. ASUS is OK too. However, I run into the most trouble with MOBO manufactures that do not design the chipsets that make cards like this work to begin with because they just don't do the R&D that Intel and AMD do. A lot of the other MOBO manufactures just by rights and then come up with their own configurations and that is where the problems begin.

1 out of 5 eggsDOA...Waiting for another one

Pros: Don't know didn't work when I received the item.

Cons: It didn't work, called Diamond for tech support and that was a joke. I was on hold three times only to get booted out of their phone system (every time). Then I called back three more times and spoke with an operator that forwarded me to three different people's voice mails. Left voice mail to no avail, then called for a seventh time and waited on hold for over 30 minutes before giving up and sending the card back. If I get another DOA I will ship it back and sell it. Beware of Diamond, tech support sucks.

3 out of 5 eggsNever received rebate

Pros: Fast. Upgradable to twin link cards.

Cons: Never received $25 rebate even though I sent in all UPC and forms in time. Had some problems with Fallout 3 crashing but not sure if it is the game or the card failing.

Other Thoughts: Received 3 rebates from OCZ but couldn't get one from Diamond. Ticks me off enough to not buy Diamond next time around. What a scam rebates are.

1 out of 5 eggsDiamond bad

Pros: When I first got it it was fast. Graphics were stunning on my 32" LCD. Price was decent.

Cons: Drivers were old and outdated. Until I downloaded straight from AMD/ATI it kept locking up. After 5 months the cards started to lock the system more often after several wipe and reinstalls and diagnostics the cards were found defective. it took over two weeks to get ahold of diamond and another week before they gave me an RMA but they wanted me to pay for shipping to them and back.

Other Thoughts: Never ever buy diamond
