Loud Fan Fixed with BIOS Upgrade
- Pros: Good card for the price (with rebate).
- Cons: Very loud fan with older bios. You must upgrade your bios to fix the fan speed. New bios can be found at bjorn3d.com. XFX support even tells you to go there.
- Other Thoughts: XFX website should have better (or any) documentiation regarding the fast/loud fan.
Nice, but.......
- Pros: Easy Installation, no errors, great price, games look great
- Cons: I'm a pretty understanding fella, but this thing is LOUD! I can hear this fan from a room away. I researched the problem with the 7900GT and opened a ticket up with XFX on this issue. Thier forums are now disabled, you can only open up your own ticket. So you can't even research your issue on thier website. XFX rep told me that it is a known issue and they will contact me when they have a fix. Adding an after market cooler will void warranty. This is easily my most dissapointing part of my new rig, even my tech-clueless wife makes fun of the "leafblower" in our office. lol
- Other Thoughts: I see no need for XFX to take away the troubleshooting forums. Should be packaged with a set of earphones that continuously play Fran Drescher's laugh, because it would be slightly less annoying than this fan.

- Pros: I found one of these open box on newegg and have been pleased as punch to get it for thirty bucks less even AFTER rebate. Unit came with all cables/connectors/drivercd/etc just like the new ones
- Cons: replaced stock fan so fan noise was not an issue for me, never even powered up the oem fan
- Other Thoughts: If you can find one open box, go for it!
Great card 2 months ago, mediocre card now
- Pros: This is obviously the 7900 GT GPU by XFX. When I got it I was very impressed with the speed of the card. When I first played Oblivion on it I laughed out loud when remembering the frame rates of my friends 6800's system. In Oblivion runs about 85+FPS inside and 30+-FPS outside. The heatsink looks cool even though it sucks (see cons). When I got it just 4 months ago it was $xxx+. Now its already only $xxx. Also, it runs Vista very well. Also, there is a double life time warranty, so if you sell it on <e b a y> or something, that person will still have the warranty.
- Cons: *eXtremely loud fan (suposedly fixed with updated BIOS at bjorn3d.com)
*Not Direct X 10 (In case you didn't know Vista uses DX10 which helps with all the new visual candy for the new and upcoming games for Vista)
*Not an 8800 GTX...
*Very HOT! About 55*C not running anything!
With higher resolutions there is obviously an FPS drop(duh)
- Other Thoughts: Overall, it is a good Video card for $xxx and lowering. Not DX10, not an 8800GTX, but still great for HD games and multimedia. If I were you I would get an EVGA personally. (My friend has an EVGA 7900 GT, and it is cooler and stuff.) Also, if you have the money, I would shoot for a 7950GX2 or an 8800 GT or something. But, its still good.
Great for PC Games!!!!
- Pros: This video card twiddles its thumbs while playing very intense games.. Very powerful! Runs BF2142, CS:source: HL2: GRAW, all in highest definitions!! VIVO works excellent, television quality on it isn't the best but works good enough for me. Very nice addition to computer. Will eventually run in SLI
- Cons: The fan SCREAMS when first running, just download the newest BIOS update for the card, the difference in noise is shocking.
- Other Thoughts: EVGA 680I, Corsair 2GB 800Mhz PC6400 EPP. Intel Core 2 Duo E6400.
