5 out of 5 eggsSo far so good

Pros: I have been using this card for over 2 years now and it is still going strong with 2x 500GB Samsung and 2x 750GB Seagate hard drives under Windows XP / Vista / 7.

Cons: Price is okay.

Other Thoughts: Since it is PCI, the bandwidth will limit your SATA I/II drive transfer speeds.

5 out of 5 eggsSolid cards

Pros: Expanded WHS to more then 8TB with two cards installed with no problems. No hardware conflicts. Needed to install the drivers during the install but otherwise these cards have been in use for ~ 1year with out failure.

Cons: Drivers are on CDROM but have to extract to a Floppy. thats why you subst your USB stick ;-)

Other Thoughts: Understood that the drives would be running slow with an Add-In controller then the onboard SATA ports. Not looking for high transfer rates when only streaming Video/Music and doing backups with WHS.

1 out of 5 eggsNever Got it. New Egg's Inventory SKUs are mixed up.

Pros: I will determine them when the correct card arrives.

Cons: Newegg has the SATA 300 TX2+ ROHC as the same SKU. If you ordered this you will get a 2 port sata card with a IDE channel.

5 out of 5 eggsNew life to old PC

Pros: Works well in an old Dell Dimension 4500 that only had EIDE connectors.

Cons: Can't think of any.

Other Thoughts: You will need molex to sata power converter cables.

5 out of 5 eggsTX4 never fails

Pros: I have three of these. They work flawlessly. Pins are available for HD LED activity for each port.

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: Three of these cards are used in a FreeNAS server. FreeBSD has no issue with the TX4

5 out of 5 eggsDid exactly what I needed

Pros: I bought this card to extend the capabilities of an OLD pc. I then used it with 3 WD 1TB sata hard drives and installed FreeNAS ver. 0.69. Everything has worked out of the box. Even running the new drives in a software raid 5 setup. I couldn't be happier

Cons: none

Other Thoughts: Works with FreeNAS, and Ubuntu.

5 out of 5 eggsworks great in linux software raid

Pros: simple to install, easily detects in debian. had it for a few months in a server running raid0 on 3 750gb disks with no issues. my mobo only has two sata ports, this card bumps it up to 6.

Cons: none. did not need software or support. pop it in and install debian.

5 out of 5 eggsNot a RAID card,,,,,Really? Please!

Pros: Pop it in and it works. No fuss, no muss way to add 4 SATA 300 HD's to a project.

Cons: Some people can't read that it is not RAID and ding the rating for not being responsible enough to accept that it is not Newegg's nor Promise's fault someone can't read.

Other Thoughts: I had this running in an XP pseudo server, now in WHS. Works great. I did not want RAID, so that is why I went with it. Still can't believe others ding it's rating for someone's incompetence...... Download new drivers if the ones you have on the disc aren't up to date.

2 out of 5 eggsDisappointing

Pros: Inexpensive card, PCI-compatible, makes for good expansion if you're running out of drives.

Cons: Does not support hardware RAID, which is the reason the card was purchased. I realize this is due to negligence on our end for not noticing that it didn't support any RAID setups, but the purchaser wasn't aware of this and thought it did since newegg listed it under the RAID controller section. It's disappointing nonetheless, since it was the whole point to purchasing the card; we didn't need the drive expansion. Too late to return to newegg, unfortunately. Looks like we'll be shopping for another card, and this one will be gathering dust.

Other Thoughts: Don't make the same mistake my company did purchasing this card if you're looking for an inexpensive RAID setup. There is no RAID setup to be had here.

5 out of 5 eggsFlawless in unRAID server

Pros: Plug-n-play in my unRAID server, no configuration needed. Pretty decent price.

Cons: PCI, not PCI-E, so slightly slower than SATA slots on the motherboard.

Other Thoughts: The layout is a bit weird, look a the picture to see what I mean. Not a con, just different.
