The Antec NeoPower 550 offers super quiet operation and high - up to 85% - efficiency thanks to Active PFC (power form correction). This efficiency factor, along with Antec's innovative "straight-through" airflow path allows the fan to run slower – and quieter – as it exhausts heat from the power supply. As a result, you'll save energy – and money – on your power bills each month. The power supply is backwards compatible with all ATX 12V systems while supporting ATX12V v2.2 and EPS12V systems.
With 550 watts of power at your command, dedicated power circuitry delivers a more reliable – and safer – output to your system's components with voltage feedback circuitry and tighter regulation for improved system stability. Maximum, stable power to your CPU is delivered via three +12V output circuits independently of the other components and dedicated power connector supplies energy to any PCI Express graphics card.
The NeoPower 550 is certified Nvidia SLI-ready. In order to reduce cable clutter, the advanced cable management system lets you use only the cables you need to power your system. All of this is backed by Antec's AQ5 5-year warranty.

- Pros: Modular Cables(which are sleeved btw), Cool Color, 3 12v Rails.
- Cons: None That I can find.
- Other Thoughts: Ok first off, I am an electronics technician with an Associates degree in Electronics Engineering. And I am a full time computer and arcade machine tech. I deal with computers, powersupplies and digital electronics all day long.
All you people ratting on Antec saying the incompatibilities are their problem and all, did you ever contact the motherboard manufacturer or check your requirements? Most of the time alot of hapless builders overload PSUs and cause them to fail ( which can ruin other hardware as well). All in all I have been using Antec supplies in over 30 rigs now and only 1 250 watt that was overloaded failed. And btw hint hint, if your gonna write an angry review, LEARN TO SPELL, else you just look a n00b. If your not gonna write a proper review, why waste all these people's time?
The skinny on Antec and Asus
- Pros: Knowledgeable tech support that answers the phone in person and speaks great English, nice dark gray finish, quiet, ATX v2.2, handles 7900GTs in SLI, dark cable sleeves give case a less cluttered look, modular connections mean you can eliminate some cable clutter.
- Cons: might not support some power-hungry DirectX 10-based SLI systems in the future.
- Other Thoughts: Antec support is PERFECT. They knew all about the Asus/Antec issue, and had options for resolution, even though the root cause is not with Antec's hardware. According to Antec support:
There is a timing incompatibility between certain Asus motherboards (A8N and one other series I can't remember) and all ATX v2.2 compliant power supplies (not just Antec). You can solve the problem by updating your BIOS (as of 7/27/06, you have to use a beta). All of the newest supplies from Antec (serials beginning with S06 or higher) have been pre-modified to be Asus-tolerant, and won't need to be RMAed. Again, this is Asus' problem, not Antec's.
The symptoms of the Asus incompatibility are very strict. Symptom 1: The computer won't boot, period. 2: The computer will randomly power off from Windows. There's no association with a particular activity in Windows. If it powers down only when you run certain applications (such as 3D games), then the problem is unrelated to this incompatibilit
