5 out of 5 eggsvery good for the price

Pros: I bought this thing in summer 07 and it has been running great since, it has been through two cases and two MOBOs and still going strong. has all the connections I need and then some.

Cons: none.

Other Thoughts: powers my rig that has a Gigabyte P35-DSL MOBO, E6600 Core2duo (overclocked to 3Ghz, 4GB 800Mhz OCZ reaper RAM (overclocked to 1000Mhz), Nvidia GTX460 enthusiast edition (GPU overclocked 820Mhz Memory to 1002Mhz), 1 Sata, 1 Pata , and one dvd burner, case has 4 120mm fans. powering all of this I can still play BF3 with ease.

2 out of 5 eggsHad To Buy Extension Cables.

Pros: It came with the cables I need.

Cons: This ATX12V power supply package does not come with extra extension cables, whatsoever. My motherboard (GIGABYTE GA-MA790X-UD4P), which is an ATX motherboard but 2 of the cables were to short. I had to buy 12V 2x4 pin and ATX extension cables.
Pretty frustrating, I must say.

5 out of 5 eggsGoing Strong

Pros: I've had this power supply since December of 2006 and hasn't been a problem since.

Cons: Well, it isn't modular, but of course, it isn't priced like one too!

Other Thoughts: Its powering two optical drives. Two Pata drives. One Sata drive. Two 7950 Gts. 5 120mm case fans. A 60 mm fan. And a 70 mm fan.

1 out of 5 eggsQuestionable QA

Pros: It came in a box. Cheap.

Cons: Features a three speed fan switch, but some how CoolMax QA missed the fact that this unit had NO FAN switch! I guess you get what you pay for. I RMA'd it and going with another power supply from NewEgg.

Other Thoughts: Never even turned it on. Opened box, saw it was missing fan switch (the whole reason I bought it!) and returned it immediately. I am a frequent buyer on NewEgg and I am very happy with their customer service!

4 out of 5 eggsDecent Life Span

Pros: Did its job. Lasted until now. Plenty of Connectors. Stays cool.

Cons: Just recently died on me.

Other Thoughts: Bought this PSU March 07. Recently (Feb09) wires started shorting out and sometimes caused my compy to turn off randomly. I do play with my configuration a lot so the wires may have worn out after excessive use. Had to not use certain wires just for the BIOS to post. Just ordered a Corsair hopefully can get just as much life or more out of it.

2 out of 5 eggsCame underpowered

Pros: Dual PCIe connectors, 32A on the 12v rails (good for the price).

Cons: Did not supply sufficient power for my system (See below), and that resulted in constant crashes and slow downs.

Other Thoughts: C2Q Q9400 @ stock, 6GB DDR2-800 RAM, WD 640GB 7.2 SATA, DVD-Multi Burner SATA, Foxconna G33-S MoBo, HD 4870.

I used two different power calculators before buying this, my system only uses about 358w loaded, and this supposedly meets the minimum reqs. of the video card for a fully loaded system. But was putting out a lot* less on the PCIe 12v rails. (About 60w per rail where it should've been 75w).

RMAed the unit and I'm going with a PC Power and Cooling 750w.
