5 out of 5 eggsWishing More were Like this

Pros: This was the first power supply for my first ever custom build. It was purchased in 2006. It finally died 2011. I had no problems with easy cable managment.
No overheating issues. It even lasted through my Video card upgrade to SLI with no problems. Was runing 8GB DDR ram 775 Intel 2.4 Dual core, 2x DVD RW, 1x 3.5 Drive, and 2x 9850 GT cards just fine.

When I died it did not take any of the perpherials :D.

Cons: It finally Died

Other Thoughts: After seeing some of the reviews for newer products I wish this was still in production at 1000W

Manufacturer Response:

4 out of 5 eggsgreat psu

Pros: great psu so far... never heard of mushkin before but after reading all these review i deiced try it. love the green led fan light in back

Cons: not sure if con (reason why i gave 4 eggs not 5) i believe that it did not come with the power cord. now i dont know if when assembling everything that i miss placed it or not. other than that nothing is wrong

Other Thoughts: for those who say that the modular cords are little stiff i didnt not really have any issues with that. fits great in my raidmax smilodon case. also its not make clear in the description but does have a 6pin+2pin to make an 8 pin pci express connector. and so people dont make the same mistake i almost did... *carefuller how you plug the the bottom molex into the psu because you CAN put them in upside down. due to this i almost rma'ed because i thought it was doa. and on more thing to note is that the green light on the back of it does not light up

Manufacturer Response:

Mushkin Enhanced will gladly send you a new power cord. Simply contact or call 800.569.1868.

5 out of 5 eggsRock Solid

Pros: I was very impressed by this PSU. There is absolutely no voltage fluctuation at all and this is overkill for my OC'd 4890. It seems to be quiet (Or at least I've never heard it over the other fans in my system.) The modular cables are also great!

Cons: The cables could be a tab bit more modular? As in not so many SATA connectors on one cable.

Other Thoughts: I had never used a Mushkin PSU before and was a bit shy at first, but I would definitely recommend this PSU. The green lighting is also a unique touch.

4 out of 5 eggsGood PSU, outstanding customer service!

Pros: Decent output, does what it's supposed to do.

Cons: Not quite as much on the 12V as many 650W units at 44A. Cables are short, PCI-E cables are rigid. This unit is a bit of a pain in a case with a bottom mounted psu.

Other Thoughts: Excellent customer service! I was missing some cables, and had some broken SATA connecter housings. I filled out an RMA, and they shipped me a new and complete set of cables free within 2 weeks!!

5 out of 5 eggsSolid.

Pros: Just installed my third one of these bad boys. Love this power supply. Quality construction. Quiet operation. Clean cabling. Mobo power cable long enough to fit a bottom-mounted case and still reach behind the motherboard tray in a case's cable management holes. Voltage regulation within a few tenths of a point. Three installs and never a failure, which is grand considering they replaced blown supplies from other mANufaCTurErs (read between the lines).

Cons: I agree with one con mentioned in reviews here: the modular cables could be a little more modular; insofar as having discrete connections per-drive, rather than one modular cord per 4 SATA power connectors. However, it's designed with RAID in mind, IMO. I run 2 to 5 drives in each system using this supply and it works well. Consider that a single modular cable per 1-2 HDD plugs would simply result in negative comments about too many modular jacks which are too densely packed to allow easy changes with adult fingers. There is only so much surface area on which to place modular jacks...Mushkin has created a functional compromise between number of connectors and number of modular jacks. And it works well.

Other Thoughts: I have three PCs in the house and use this PSU on all of them. Gaming rig, HTPC, and a 5-HDD server. This PSU is very versatile in that it fits each job well. Two fans are on opposite sides, instead of on adjacent/perpendicular faces, making it easy to install in HTPC or non-tower cases that don't have a way for the PSU to suck air from the bottom, etc. If power budgets didn't increase as hardware evolved, I'd use this PSU for the rest of my life.

5 out of 5 eggsExceptional

Pros: Exceptional features and attention to detail. For example, the heavy duty grounding wire that attaches to your motherboard, the noise filter on the VGA cables, RailFushion technology. Dual fans, modular cables, etc. I upgraded from a PC Power and Cooling unit and I'm not disappointed.

Cons: None.

Other Thoughts: Have only had this a few days so reliability is not known.

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Beautifully finished. The high-gloss exterior is almost too nice to bury in a case. The modular design is nice. The cables are well-dressed and pretty flexible. Plenty of power for my system.

Cons: I have to dig to find any. The green LED is needless. It would be nice if the cables were more flexible than they are. Again, I'm picking nits here.

Other Thoughts: I don't think I'm anywhere close to taxing the Mushkin's limits. I run an AMD Phenom II 940 BE (stock speed for now), a single 9800 GTX video card, a DVD player, and a pair of hard drives. It's hardly a fantasy load on a power supply, but the Mushkin is an extremely nice unit.
