5 out of 5 eggsAMD always beats Intel

Pros: AMD always makes a superior chip in speed, covering all measurement categories, and compatibility for less money. Service is good when there are problems which is a rare occurrence. I used to be a small reseller and I know the value and performance of this product.

Cons: This chip is being phased out of production. If you want to max your board without switching the board and chip do it now. The EVERYDAY performance is not much different than the Sempron 64...unless you are doing crunching, High end Graphics for photos or CAD, numbercrucnhing, Small Scale Server Functions or 3D Video Games in which case you'll need a good ATI graphics card ;)...NVIDIA's good too.

5 out of 5 eggsThis is the "Slow" Athlon?

Pros: Easy installation, Runs good, low temprature - 44 cent/111 F, as compared to a K-7 Processor, which average temp is about 170 F, marked increase in performance compared to Sempron 64 2800+ and Athlon 64 Venice 3000+. And these are the "Slow" Athlons? Can't wait to get a socket 939 Board and get a "Fast" Athlon.

Cons: As everyone else says, No Upgrade Path. I suppose the socket 754 is not to be developed further? Too bad. I hope that these chips will continue to be manufactured as long as there are Socket 754 boards.

Other Thoughts: I see nothing wrong with the heatsink... No Noise... The person who got the noisy heatsink? Perhaps recieved a faulty Fan. This thing is silent, I have the case open right now.

Everything seems to jump with this processor, Installations pop right up, copy processes are snappy.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat mid-range processor

Pros: Great processor. 64-bit is a HUGE step up from 32-bit. Runs better than my P4 3.2Ghz.

Cons: Nothing about the processor is bad, but the fan it's bundled with is very loud. Upgrade is recommended.

5 out of 5 eggsgreat for awhile!

Pros: good processor for the money.. can great to overclock if you got the right heatsink you can get it to 2.7ghz 1.5v.. stable... idle at 2.7ghz at 31c and 46c full load.

Cons: no upgrade path for the 754 but nothing else.

Other Thoughts: spec..
asus k8n-e
1.5gb pc3200 (clocked to pc3600)
scythe ninja sink (120mm 2500rpm)
asus n6000 (512mb mod to 256bit)
(gddr3 clock core 370 mem 1000)
680w ps.
and who cares about hard drives.
but they spin so fast 15k ;)

5 out of 5 eggsthey still sell this

Pros: it's been a good little minute since i brought this processor and it has since been reired to my processor grave yard. but it worked when it was here.

Cons: No upgrade path and if you buy it know you'll just lying to yourself cause it's no longer a budget processor it's something to play with and torture now.

Other Thoughts: if you still own one it might be a good time to save up and buy something more up todate

5 out of 5 eggsNO UPGRADE PATH!

Pros: Its a good processor. Plays any game you could want with a good gfx card at a high resolution.

Cons: The fan thats included is very loud. The proc is a bottleneck for my Sapphire x800XL. Its a socket 754 which means you will NOT have an upgrade path. Runs fairly hot, but not as hot as a P4. Also, it doesnt have enough FSB bandwidth.

Cons: If you have a high-end video card this will be a bottle-neck fr you. This is for mid grade systems only.

5 out of 5 eggsWhat can you say about AMD?

Pros: It's AMD. Never had any problems with AMD, and this processor is the same. For the speed, and being a 64 bit I'm actually suprised the temps are as low as they are. Even being water cooled this thing runs cooler now then when I had my 2500+ Barton core installed.

Cons: None. Well, maybe that it's not free?
