2 out of 5 eggsFor the price its junk

Pros: Nice stock cooler

Cons: Way overpriced and sucks for gaming

Other Thoughts: I handed my system with this down to my mother and am shocked they are still charging this much for it. I ran it with an x800 and 2 gigs of memory..when I switched to an athlon5000 I was stunned. I build systems and I have a special place for the p4..we have a dumpster. This is intels weakest attempt since the 386sx. Soaks juice..hot as an oven. You can get a dual core monster from amd or a base line core duo for this money! Dont cheat yourself!

5 out of 5 eggsWorks well and lasts.

Pros: This Processor works well and has lasted for well over 2 years. Its starting to get dated but for stock usage its good stuff.

Cons: Not dual core.

Other Thoughts: Its a good processor but just a bit more you can get a much faster dule core.

5 out of 5 eggsQuality doesn't fade

Pros: Performs well. Stable, reliable, can still pull its weight. Of course this chip is several years old, but how many programs actually take advantage of multiple cores? Count them on your hand. 64-bit obviously allows you to run XP or Vista based on 64-bit.

Cons: Some people lacking proper case ventilation will probably want to consider a third party heatsink/fan. This processor can run a little warm. I wouldn't want to spend any more than $60 on a chip such as this due to its age and cost/performance ration of anything newer. But Newegg needs to make money to provide outstanding service and quality products.

Other Thoughts: I didn't buy this processor from Newegg (still vibrantly recommend them though); rather used from e b a y. One reason I like this chip, and most from Intel, is that despite the age or usage it's still completely reliable. People need to stop comparing this to the Core 2 Duos and newer chips. Obviously the Core 2 Duos and subsequent chips are going to be faster, as newer chips always are. I do agree if you are doing anything other than upgrading an older computer with a specific chipset, go with a more up to date chip.

5 out of 5 eggsRuns good...outdated though

Pros: Fast, Hyperthreading, 2MB L2. It runs everything i throw at it without complaint, oblivion runs smoothly, runs cool, with the BTX hs/fan that came with my computer, (36C idle, 48 Load)

Cons: Is a bit oudated. Still a bit slow. not dual core.

Other Thoughts: very good for budget computers.

5 out of 5 eggsFast and Cheap

Pros: Cheap processor and is on the 3Ghz next to the big boys out there. Own this one for about 4 days but I run my computer 24x7. Comes with real nice cool fan but I little noisy so I bought a quiet one and replaced it.

Cons: None.

Other Thoughts: Great processor speed for the money. Runs smooth with MSI PM8PM-V mainboard.

2 out of 5 eggsGo with Dual or Quad Core instead

Pros: Cheaper than most Dual Core processors. 3Ghz if you are looking for this kind of speed.

Cons: Slow compared to dual core processors even older Athlon MP systems. Hyper-threading is overrated.

Other Thoughts: Only buy this if you are looking to replace a processor on an old board. Otherwise, go with Dual or Quad core processors. I made a mistake buying this processor about 1.5 years ago. I should have gone with a dual-core or a motherboard that supports 2 processors.

4 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Good CPU for the price

Cons: The stock fan and heatsink aren't anything special. The connectors to secure the heatink/fan to the mobo look cheap and easily broken.

Other Thoughts: A decent aftermarket heatsink/fan will make this chip run a few degrees cooler.

5 out of 5 eggsNice improvement

Pros: This works great, considerably cooler than my last Prescott processor, I bought this to rebuild my computer after a scanner knocked out the USB controller on my last motherboard. Fast so far and cool of course.

Cons: Well, it's the thing that's holding down my Vista rating at the moment :)

Other Thoughts: It may be cooler because of my liquid cooling. I have two radiators on my system and the first time I put this thing together I forgot to hook up one of them, so now they are both hooked up.

5 out of 5 eggsGood Processor

Pros: Good processor all around. I'm an Intel man, its all I build with.

Cons: The cooling unit isnt anything spectacular, but the basic ones that come with the processors never are. However, the CPU runs cool, so it doesnt matter much

Other Thoughts: Viva la Intel
