Intel Pentium D 820 Smithfield 2.8GHz LGA 775 95W Dual-Core Processor BX80551PG2800FN

Pros: I got this processor because I was on a tight budget and wanted the most bang for the buck. Processor has not disappointed me. Some users state about the heat issue. I bought a Coolmaster Centurion 5 case and with the stock heatsink and fan I idle at 40C and max at 52C.

Cons: The problem with heat is not a issue for mine but I have notice that you cannot make the stock fan run at full speed. Tried to set my bios up so it would just run the fan at 100% speed like I've had it setup on my other computer but no matter what you do it controls itself. The problem with this is that the processor could easily run in the high 30C idle and max in the 40's if I could just have the fan run at full speed all the time. It seems even when on heavy applications running I can get The fan speed to get up into 3200 rpms but I've seen it go as high as 3600 rpm. It idles normally at 2000 rpms so missing out on 1600 rpms of speed which is my only problem. Pent D may run hotter but they are designed for that. The heat threshold seems a bit higher then on other processors. When I first installed processor I didn't put enough thermal compound on so my processor was idling at 80C and was still stable.

Other Thoughts: Pocessors have far past the need for so much power for the normal gamer or computer user. With this processor I ran C&C tiberium wars and it only uses 30% of the processor. If you looking for a cheap strong processor Pent D do the trick.

Pros: Bought this along wit a new board to bring my recordin studio computer back to life...all i have to say is...WOW.

Cons: None.

Pros: This is a very nice cpu, it's faster than the 805 and runs cooler. The 800mhz front bus is very nice over the 533mhz on the 805. I've used five of theese in builds for friends and a machine for my mom. They take on all the games without a hitch and run quiet under stock settings.

Cons: Use good paste on the heatsink, the stuff that comes on the stock intel is a little square of stuff thats not better than playdough.

Other Thoughts: Even though its not as fancy as the Core 2 Duo chipset, it's still a great dual core for gaming, multi tasking and general use.

Pros: -Dual cores and nice overclocking possibilities.

-Runs pc games very well.

-Works well with a 680i lt sli motherboard.

-With an asus 10 dollar cooler it is running cool, i didn't attempt using the stock cooler.

Cons: -Video encoding for burning dvd's seems slow taking atleast 40-60 minutes for an hour long movie but i have not compared it to any other processor.

-In Battlefield 2 and 2142 it helps my video card run at max settings although map load times are incredibly slow, atleast 10 minutes at the least which is unacceptable.

Other Thoughts: -This cpu has lasted me a year and a half so far and soon will be replaced with an e6600 not because of performance but just to keep up with technology.

-If you are looking for something to just do regular things and entry level to moderate gaming then this is great for you although its worked for everything i like to do including gaming and everyday jobs.

-Paired with a single not sli evga 7950gt ko superclocked and getting an average of 80-110fps in gameplay and 112.25 on video stress test, clearly not bottlenecking the card,

-When compared to my Pentium 4 540 the performance is almost the same although i get 1-4 more fps with the pentium 4_3.2Ghz_, But this is the newer technology and also has more L2 Cache.

-I paid a bit more for mine a while back but for 82 bucks this is a steal for a moderate level computing experience

Cons: Gets so hot that it throttles back the power to half of it's rated capacity.

Other Thoughts: I wish I would have paid a little more and got the 6300 or just stuck with AMD.

Pros: Pretty eefing good cpu for the price! I paid 88 for it a few weeks ago from today and its only 86 bucks.
Installed easily to mobo.

Other Thoughts: I learned that a dual core cpu is different than a core 2 duo(which is the better of the two) however this is an amazing buy for the money!!!

Pros: very fast chip. vista scored it at 4.7. u cant get a beter chip 4 the price imo. the best part about it is that i got a killer mother board that suports quad core so when that puppy is about two to three bills....;)

Cons: some what hot but not realy 50c when the heat sink kicks into high gear it will go down to 40c.didnt work well with dual core center. 1 day the high fan setting is at 4600 rpm the next its at 3600 if any one is familiar with MSI dual core center let me know.

Other Thoughts: in a year i get a QUAD CORE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ya

Pros: It's fast it's fast and did i say it's fast

Other Thoughts: I got this thing for $120 almost a year ago and it still runs fine. As i type this i'm listing to the fan catching up with the stress test i have it under. It's running at 65c and is still stable as a rock. The fan is doing 1910 rpm. At idle it runs at 57c at about 1200 rpm.
