1 out of 5 eggs

Pros: none

Cons: Dead on arrival.

Other Thoughts: I suppose with computer items there is a random chance one will receive a dead product. It does not happen often, but it does occur occasionally.

5 out of 5 eggsNot bad...

Pros: Even after about a year and a half it still works on the rare occasion I use it. Very low noise.

1 out of 5 eggsThere are BETTER drives

Pros: Price is cheap

Cons: I tested this, the NEC, and the Mitsumi. This was the worst. On a marginal floppy, formatting gave 90 bad sectors with this drive, 1 with the Mitsumi, and 0 with the NEC. CHKDSK verified that the NEC could read the whole disk. The Sony drive went in the trash.

5 out of 5 eggsHey, it works!

Pros: Works as advertised right out of the box. Also a lot quieter than my previous FDD. Excellent value for the price.

Cons: none

Other Thoughts: Like most FDDs, the LED comes on steady at power-up to let you know you hooked the cable up wrong.

5 out of 5 eggsIt's a floppy drive...

Pros: What else is there to say. Even though floppy drives are way on their way out, it's still good to know that I can put this in a system I built and that it is going to work everytime.

Cons: none

5 out of 5 eggsAddressing People Having Problems

Pros: Very rarely do these drives fail if they are new. People having problems with them have probably installed them wrong. If the light on the front stays on constantly that is a warning sign that you have connected the drive cable wrong I.E. inserted the drive cable upside down (reinsert it 180 degrees).

Cons: None.

Other Thoughts: Sony was the innovator of this type of floppy drive and in my opinion manufactures the best 3-1/2 drive.
