well if WD would hold out
- Pros: It appears that your power supply unit is failing if it wont hold an operating system. Please get a new power supply to see if its the cause. I know some hard drives act funny when one is slave and other is master. for some reason. I have a 200 gb version of the competitor. It failed on me about 4 days ago. I guess its a good idea to make an external hard drive to archive data. Be sure to have e-sata compatibility.
- Cons: I don;t see any, hmmmmm
- Other Thoughts: you do the research most people blame hard drives and motherboars for not holding an operating system whereas the power supply is the mostly the blame. let me reassure you that before hard drives fail, check your power supply out. cause they tend to fail quickly and take more electric abuse than other counterparts.
Do Not use With Windows
- Pros: is great for storage
- Cons: will not hold windows , bad errors
- Other Thoughts: i would buy again if i needed a storage device, is fast and stable without an operating system on it
Very Good Drive - Highly Recommended
- Pros: 300gb, SATA-150, 16mb cache and good price. Quiet, fast and dependable. Price is right, quality is excellent.
- Cons: Can't think of a thing...
- Other Thoughts: I've been using an identical drive for about a year, and added 2 more to the system (900gb now)so that I could install both 32 & 64-bit Vista on the extra drives. After done with Vista eval, they will be used for video storage. These are OEM's and don't come with screws or sata cables, so you might need to order them at the same time, to save shipping costs. Ah, yes... I forgot cables, and had to order seperate...
