Nice for what it is...
- Pros: Compact design. Easy to instal and GUI is very simple to learn. Come pre-striped and ready to go.
- Cons: Has issues with certain files. I can drag Adobe PSD files back and forth ok but try saving direct to NAS and file will corrupt every time. Called Tech Support and they are aware of it. Turning on jumbo frames did not fix.
Get it
- Pros: X-Raid, great support, active development of the software. Excellent Mac support. Support of 750gig drives. Slimserver support, iTunes streaming support. Serial ATA.
- Cons: 2 Terrabyte limit, hopefully to be broken in Q1 2007. Ships with 256Megs of Ram that can be upgraded, and should be upgraded if you have lots of directories or directories with files.
- Other Thoughts: Small, fairly quiet, brainlessly easy to use. On a gigabit network, this thing performs fine. The support forum is very active, and they are constantly improving the system software. Great company and product.
Expensive but worth it
- Pros: Excellent out of the box experience. Fast and easy to configure. Factory defaults are mostly sensible, only had to tweak a few parameters.
- Cons: Loud, needs a bigger fan.
Updated admin web interface for 3.0 is ugly and uses dynamic sliding sub-menu bars.
- Other Thoughts: They should make the front of the appliance look like a radiator grill instead of the space heater to match their "RAIDiator" branding in the product.
