5 out of 5 eggs1 Year Later, Still Happy!

Pros: Although I was skeptical, the positional audio is unbelievable. You can tell exactly what is going on in all directions. So much so, I feel at a disadvatage when using my traditional surround system now.

Incredible bass (once tuned)

Clear mic - never any complaints from others

Durable -- I've had mine a year, they still look and work like new

Overall, the audio clarity is excellent for what you pay.

Cons: Out of the box, they sound incredibly dull. No bass response whatsoever. I had to turn the bass (and treble) up quite a bit in my Audigy control panel - then they are quite powerful and sound clean.

There is a severe design flaw in that the center channel does not have the same frequency response as the left/right. Tech support confirmed the center rolls off the bass to improve speech. The problem when gaming is that it makes it VERY distracting to hear the soundfield change when turning left/right.

My solution? I set my audio card to 4.1, byspassing the center. Now, the audio is seamless all 360 degrees. Before I did this, I was going to return them. Glad I fixed it and kept them.

Other Thoughts: The inline remote for volume puts it right at your fingertips. An adapter is included so you can use this headset in conjunction with your external audio - this is HUGE.

Overall, this is an amazing package for little $$. My big booming external audio is rarely used anymore. That sums it up.

4 out of 5 eggsFailed Mic

Pros: Excellent sound, good bass, comfortable.

Cons: Mic crackled horribly and had to be replaced. Gaming for any length of time may mess up your hair due to stress relief strap.

Other Thoughts: Bought a cheap $3 "laptop" gooseneck microphone to replace the defective one since I didn't want the hassle of RMA, etc. At first I thought phones were defective, but discovered, by plugging in only one channel at a time, that my sound card wasn't sending 5.1 sound, so I have only experienced stereo mode.

2 out of 5 eggsGood Head Phones bad Head Set

Pros: The head works great if you just want to use it for listening to music and playing games.

Cons: Mic is garbage on these, first of all it's detachable witch has its pros and cons. when i attached mine it worked but every 45 mins or so you hear a static sound and then it stops working. i have to reattached it again so it would work. sinse i play for long hours at a time this get really annoying.

Other Thoughts: The reason i bought these has because i went through 2 mics before this one and they were about 12 each. i thought if i bought a really nice one it would last me at least a year. this thing didn't last 2 hours for me. Should of bought the Triton ones i was looking at.

oh another thing, i was going to get my refund but for me it says its not refundable which before i bought it said it was refundable, hopefully its just cause i got them today if its not I'm losing hope for newegg.

2 out of 5 eggsWorked great while it lasted

Pros: Sounds incredible. The frequency response is amazing, and the adjustible levels on the controller make for an easy adjustment while in-game. I can tell you EXACTLY where anyone is (if they're moving).

Cons: CHEAP! The only thing cheaper than the materials used to make this headset, is the customer service (or lacking). It's pathetic how I was treated when I tried to see about getting a replacement with my warranty. So, I just threw the piece of carp away. TB, you've fallen a long way from the days when you competed with Creative in the sound card market... that's for sure.

Other Thoughts: I'd highly suggest considering another brand of headphones. I was sappy enough to buy two sets of these, thinking "oh, well maybe the last one was just a fluke...". Well, two for two! TB already has about $200 of my money, and that's all they're getting. After this experience, I will never buy another TB product.

4 out of 5 eggsTurtle Beach

Pros: This headset delivers. I have enjoyed using it since day one. I have read that 5.1 headsets are a gimmick. Put on this headset and walk through Nektropos forest in Everquest II. Take a jaunt through the forests in Crysis.

Cons: The volume control is not responsive. Don't crank the volume quickly or your likely to get an earfull a second later.

Other Thoughts: The headset sounds great, the softw foam is comfortable and my guild mates commented on how clear my voice was on Ventrilo (they did not know that I had bought a new headset). My voice is crystal clear now and the flexible micrphone makes it easy to position.

5 out of 5 eggsthere for the long haul

Pros: This headset has got it all great sound ,lots of twekable setings. I have had these for over 2 years now and they work just as good as when i bought them. very sturdy i have droped them several times(wires very long get cought under chair)

Cons: main wire is kinda short ,the unit that controls the volumes drags the cord to the floor. Tends to get ruffed up alot

Other Thoughts: i wish they made the main wire longer so the control box can stay were i put it

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Couldn't ask for more from headphones. Good sound, surround works nice, even good bass when you consider the size. Mic is nice and loud and extremely clear. Quite comfortable, I wear glasses and can still wear these during all night gaming sessions with no discomfort at all.

Cons: The fabric covers seem to be prone to picking up cat hair and other fuzzy bits.

Other Thoughts: Highly recommend these for gamers. The surround is nice for picking up directional cues and the mic is great for team play. Music reproduction and dvd playback is pretty good too. Reasonable price and fast newegg shipping too. Can't go wrong here.

3 out of 5 eggsOne good, one bad.

Pros: Soild sound reproduction. Just the right amount of bass. Comfortable, even for extended periods. Excellent mic.

Cons: Pass-through cable doesn't work if your speakers and sound card are 7.1. Fragile headband. Not nearly enough positional difference between front and rear channels (hard to tell them apart).

Other Thoughts: I'd bought a slightly older model last year (mic doesn't have that lock that these currently have) and have been using it quite a lot. My wife didn't like the cheap sets she'd been using, so I got her one of these. After 4 months, the headband broke. Turns out that there's some elastic on each end that's stitched into the strap. Looks like the stitching didn't hold. Who thought it was a good idea to hold the weight of this headset up with some end-stitched elastic? At the very least they could/should have used a single strip of elastic running between the two ends of the strap, not a short piece for each end.
