This Lite-On 20x LH-20A1P drive writes 4.7GB of data in about 5.5 minutes to DVD+R, and supports all DVD formats. Works well, but a bit noisy

Pros: Drive works well, but it is a bit noisy when spooling up. Nero software was awful...caused problems in my other machine. Even stopped my microphone from working! I uninstalled the software, and got it working again. Tried a free DVD burning program (DB) which works very well.

Cons: Nero software didn't work. To make matters worse, the software is only a trial...you have to buy the complete package after 30 days. Not what I expected from Nero software.

Other Thoughts: Drive does what it should. I could stand for it to be a little quieter, but at least I know its working ;). Try the free software if Nero doesn't work.

Way too loud

Pros: This is a very reliable and fast burner for the price. I have burned several dvd's and they have all worked perfectly. Defiantly an improvement over not having a dvd burner at all.

Cons: This thing makes so much freaking noise. I actually make a point to turn up iTunes when i install something so i don't have to listen to the noise.

Other Thoughts: The noise can last from 5-10 seconds all the way up to the lenght of whatever your installing. It doesn't make that much noise though when your playing games or ripping music. Just software installation.

Lots of Coasters

Pros: Ran great for 3 months. Burned multiple DVD's/CD's with no errors at nice speeds. Easy installation, came with latest Firmware.

Cons: Started creating DVD Coasters after 3 months use, no matter what burn speed is selected. Verified it has the latest Firmware. Still reads DVD's. Emailed Lite-On Support for RMA for replacement 3 buisness days ago, no response yet (Everytime I tried to use On-line Chat during the specified hours, showed no one was logged on, must be taking long holiday week).

Other Thoughts: Loud drive when reading. When trying to update Firmware, got the following:

Pros: a few speeds faster than my NEC Bruner although both are rated at the same speed. The drawer pushes in easier than my NEC Burner.
