5 out of 5 eggsNot a Bad Burner

Pros: Fast burner, does what it's supposed to do.

Cons: Don't expect any bonus software or box with this drive, all that shows up is the drive. But hey, that's clearly laid out.

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Performs as expected, but I primarily use it to watch dvd's, not for burning.

Cons: The Nero software that was bundled with the drive, was not Vista compatible.

Other Thoughts: Many reviewers comment on the noise of this drive, but I have not had that problem, at least not with playing dvd's. There is more noise when burning a disc, however.

5 out of 5 eggsLite-On is right on!

Pros: I bought this back in October and it is still working. I have burnt numerous DVD's and CD's. I have also used the Lightscribe
Technology about 6-7 times and they all turned out great. Some people say that it is noisy. I don't find it noisy because it does not bother me.

Cons: There are none. Well wait...no.

Other Thoughts: Computer technology can be tricky if you are not experienced. Most items (that are built right) should work when you put them into your computer. However, people who think they know everything about computers will buy the wrong one and blame it on the product. Or they try to put it into a computer that is all messed up with no virus protection or they have their firewall disabled or have 8 billion things running or have 8 billion drivers installed for one application. Computers are kind of like cars. They need weekly or monthly maintenance. So please, take your time in buying something and look very deep into the product before purchasing it.

1 out of 5 eggsWill Not Buy another

Pros: Worked okay for about 9 months

Cons: In the last 30 days I started getting Power calibration errors and CD/DVD works fine in another burner I have. Also, the tray will not consistantly open, the disc continue to get stuck and they only way to remove the disc is to either restart the system or use a paperclip in the emergency release. Piece of junk as far as I'm concerned.

Other Thoughts: Buy a more reliable burner, not from Lite-On. As you can tell, I'm not very happy with this purchase, but outside the warranty.

1 out of 5 eggsJunk

Pros: Worked great for about 6 months. Price was very Cheep.

Cons: Always was very loud and as time went on got louder. After 6 months it stopped writing to DVDs and finally it stopped working all together. Worked just long enough for the warrenty to expire. This was not just one either. It was 4 drives that I bought and all 4 have sinced been replaced by Sonys.

Other Thoughts: As I said above, price was cheep. I guess you get want you pay for.

2 out of 5 eggsWon't open after 6-7 months

Pros: Worked well for awhile until the tray stopped opening..

And I'm not even a constant-burner..

Cons: AVOID LITE-ON DRIVES. This was the one closest to the last LITE-ON drive I had to RMA because of the SAME PROBLEM: The drive tray will stop opening after 6 months. If you press the button repeatedly it will eventually come out, but it gets worse and worse as time goes on until eventually it stops opening altogether.

Other Thoughts: The price isn't worth the risk. DO NOT BUY THIS DRIVE.

5 out of 5 eggsWhat a great upgrade

Pros: Fast, quiet, great IDE drive. Haven't made a single coaster yet.

Cons: None.

Other Thoughts: I haven't been able to write DVDs a max speed, but it's a limitation of my machine. I upgraded from a 4x LiteOn drive that stopped working. I needed an IDE drive and I couldn't be happier than I am with this one!
