Junk!!
- Pros: The Price and Brand Names (Sony-NEC). In CD mode it read and wrote very fast.
- Cons: After 5 months it would not write in DVD mode.
- Other Thoughts: I went to the Sony-Nec Optiarc website and there was no support section and in the Company info. section it said no support was offered. Apparently Optiarc was a new company venture that started in 2006. I won't buy another one of there optical drives!!
- Pros: Fast, quiet drive. I have owned five other IDE Sony/Nec drives (six computers in the family) and have found them to be a very reliable, smart choice. All are still working well. This SATA version runs even faster.
- Cons: It's OEM - no free software, cables, screws, etc. But then you knew that already, of course.....
- Other Thoughts: I used to buy only Plextors, the Sony/Nec drives have performed and held up just as well for me.
