2 year follow-up, I would still recommend
- Pros: Pro Safe (business product) 24/7 tech support and lifetime guarantee for switch. Tech support very responsive.
- Cons: Only 2 year guarantee for the the power adapter.
- Other Thoughts: The power adapter started showing signs of malfunction 10 days out of warranty. I called tech support was very responsive and finally approved a free replacement. I notice others have had problems with the power supply as well so it could be the Achilles heel. Given the responsive tech support I would still recommend the product. Check your power supply often for humming, excessive heat and power drains from ups.
Slow to Work
- Pros: For a 16 port device it is a good buy. Its a netgear so it is more than simple to install. Finally it works and the net speed is fast, as it should be.
- Cons: After installing, none of the network worked. After rebooting and powering off several times - 60 minutes later each of the 12 devices on the switch slowly came alive. Thought maybe it was cabling but privious Gig system worked fine.
- Other Thoughts: It is worth it - be patient.
Not so great
- Pros: Does it says it will do. Decent gigabit switch for SOHO environments
- Cons: The power supply went bad after less than a year of use. Was installed in an office environment (not in a closet somewhere).
- Other Thoughts: I've had overall good experience with Netgear products. May have just gotten a lemon.
