Thermaltake continues to be the industry leader in functional and innovative designs for CPU coolers. The CL-P0296 Silent Boost RX for AMD processors combines ease of installation, low noise levels and efficient cooling into an affordable package. The frameless 92mm fan is reversed which helps to reduce noise levels caused by the backpressure.
With only an 18dBA noise level, the 2200RPM fan moves over 38.7CFM of cooling air through the all copper heatsink with its array of copper convection fins designed with maximum surface area for rapid heat dissipation. A variety of 8cm and 9cm fans can be installed in lieu of the included 92mm fan to optimize the CL-P0296 to your needs.
Mounting the Silent Boost RX requires no tools courtesy of its easy to use metal clip. It provides whisper-quiet cooling for AMD Opteron, Athlon 64, Athlon 64 FX and Sempron processors using AMD's 939, 754 or AM2 sockets.

Outstanding Product
- Pros: What did I hear? A whisper? A pin drop? An ant fart? This is extremely quiet. I don't hear any difference. Keeps my cpu cool. On 3 heavy load tests (that would shut the pc down with a whopping 95C with the stock AMD HSF), the highest temp was 51C for a couple of seconds. Extremely easy to install.
- Cons: Small screws at the bottom had to be tightened before install. Grab the copper on the side with one had, and the top metal under the fan and see if you can move it, if so, then you need to tighten the screws at the bottom. Only other semi con is that because of it's height, I had to alter the inflow duct from the side of my case. I had to remove a section of it which was no problem for me with a dremel.
- Other Thoughts: Love this. I'm running an Athlon 64 3800+ and it's a million times better than the AMD HSF that was installed with the cpu. Seriously, it's extremely quiet at 6750 RPM. Thank you once again ThermalTake. Temps tested using SpeedFan
Good Value
- Pros: Copper base, quiet 90mm fan. Easy clip retainer, no screws. Not too big or heavy. This is a great cooler if you lap the bottom to a mirror finish. I first used 600 grit, on a flat surface to remove machining marks, then follow up with 2000 grit to polish to a mirror finish. Use Artic Silver #5 thermal compound. Temps dropped 10 degrees celsius over the stock cooler. I have been able to overclock three system builds by as much as .5Ghz+ without getting over 45 degrees celsius under load.
- Cons: Machining marks on bottom surface does not allow good thermal contact. It takes about an hour to get a smooth mirror finish.

- Pros: Quite, Thermal Compound applies easy.
- Cons: Mobo fried between buying and delivery, had to test on older one.
- Other Thoughts: Finally getting a new rig with DDR3 ram
Best product for price
- Pros: Performs better than advertised.. this heatsink can cool ANY A.M.D. processor w/ ease. Also, i just love copper, as an equivalent aluminum cooler w/ these thermal characteristics would be much larger. fan works great, very quiet, moves plenty of air @ helps cool ram also.
- Cons: none at all
- Other Thoughts: Wish i had purchaced from newegg.. :-( I have 6 more builds to do and will get this cooler from newegg for all of them. B.T.W, "lapping" or otherwise modifying the bottom contact area of this or any other heatsink is detrimental to thermal condudivity. Let a good thermal compound do it's work and get in the small fissures in the block.
maybe for some
- Pros: Looks cool and stays cooler when not in load.
Its is quiet because it highest (2200±10% RPM)
- Cons: Doesn't cool because it doesn't speed up the fan.
- Other Thoughts: TT full load 73c 163f
