OverviewCustomer ReviewSpecificationsProduct Tour
The perfect cooling solution for your home-theater PC, the compact Thermalright XP-90C cooler uses pure copper to dissipate heat from your CPU without the noise of a fan. A solid copper base sits on top of your processor. A dense array of copper fins is welded to the base for the best connection to draw heat up and directly into a second, larger dense-fin heatsink. Four copper pipes are also attached to the base and pass through the outside of the larger top heatsink, giving hot air two different passages for escape.

A full assortment of mounting clips is included with the cooler allowing you to use it with most modern AMD or Intel processors including Intel Pentium D (Socket 775), Intel Pentium 4 (Socket 775), AMD Athlon 64 X2 (Socket 939), and AMD Sempron/AMD 64 (Socket 754/939/940) CPUs.

IMHO, best copper cooler available

white Reviewed By: Jake on 8/26/2006
Rating + 5
Tech Level Tech Level: high - Ownership: more than 1 year
Pros: This is the Lexus of all K8 cooling, considering the fact that it can't get much better than the XP-90C. On an AMD 4400+ overclocked to 2.5GHz and a 92mm Tornado fan at 2800RPMs, idle temperature is 28C. With one core fully loaded, the temperature reaches 38C, and with both cores loaded, it gets up to about 40C. With evaporative cooling in a southern-Arizona home, that's pretty impressive.
Cons: Might be a little bit heavy, but it doesn't seem to be a problem even when I move my PC often.
Other Thoughts: I'd be willing to bet that you could use this as a passive cooler on some low-end K8 processors...

Better than stock Opteron

Tech Level Tech Level: high - Ownership: 1 month to 1 year
Pros: took 9C off temp at full load. Opteron 175 @ 2.64 = 56C now.
Cons: Not really solid copper. I expected it to take down the temp a little more. The stock Opteron heatsink is actually pretty good; I'm just using a 20% overclock and it hits their recommended max of 65C.
Other Thoughts: fan bracketing and anti-vibration strips are kind of cheesy. I expected much better given the reputation.

Be carefull when removing

white Reviewed By: -MV-Sigma on 12/12/2007
Rating + 4
Tech Level Tech Level: somewhat high - Ownership: more than 1 year
Pros: Great heat dissipation, secure connection to mother board and chip. Add fan for stay cool gaming.
Cons: Be carefull when removing because it can pull the cpu from it's socket and bend the pins when removing. This could be if you use to much thermal paste or the units clips are hidden trapped behind the unit and mother board parts.
Other Thoughts: May not fit in some motherboard configurations. Check compatability charts.

the best passive cooler out there!

white Reviewed By: AtomRiot on 9/11/2007
Rating + 5
Tech Level Tech Level: high - Ownership: more than 1 year
Pros: All copper
fits great in limited space
doesn't really need a fan
looks like a little v8 engine
cools phenomenally!
Cons: has some of my blood on it, those fins are SHARP!
an inexperienced installer *couch* roommate *cough* might dent a heat pipe a little bit uninstalling it.
Other Thoughts: This thing is great. you dont even need a fan but i have a panflo running on mine. i have had it on a pentium d 840 and a c2d e6600. the e6600 most of the time doesnt even break 100F at idle and it is oc'd a little. the 840 would stick around 110, it did an excellent job! i'm getting another one for my e2140 to oc in my media box!
