For the PC-enthusiast who wants a desktop that looks sizzling hot, yet stays remarkably cool, check out the Zalman CNP9500 AT CPU Cooler featuring a fan and heatsink! This hi-tech cooling device lends a rich, bright look to your PC with its flashy heatsink and frame, durably crafted out of pure copper.

The heatsink saves space with an architecturally sound 3-pipe system that effortlessly whisks heat away with the help of the automatic fan’s 92mm blades and 2 ball bearings. Controlling the fan is a PWM chip, which automatically adjusts the fan’s speed based on CPU temperature. It operates at a stealthy 18.0 dB at 1300 RPM and quietly revs to 27.5 dB at 2650 RPM during heated PC action.

  • newegg PWM Control Fan A low-noise 92mm PWM Control fan automatically controls fan speeds ranging from 1,300rpm to 2650rpm for silent cooling in relation to CPU temperatures.
  • newegg Unique Heatpipe Design Three innovative and curved heatpipes provide a heat capacity matching up to six heatpipes for maximized heat transfer.
  • newegg Optimized Heatsink Layout and Ultra-Slim Fins A 100% copper heatsink with an aerodynamically optimized "tunnel" design and 0.2mm ultra-slim fins maximize heatsink efficiency with minimal weight and smoother airflow for optimum cooling.
  • newegg Intel Platform Compatible Compatible with the Intel LGA 775/1155/1156 platforms, the Zalman CNPS9500 AT provides an ideal cooling solution for Intel Pentium 4, Celeron D, Pentium D, Core 2 Duo, Core 2 Quad, Core 2 Extreme, and Core i7, Core i5, Core i3 processors.

2 out of 5 eggsNot the Zalman from days past

Pros: It looks good.

Cons: Stamped metal strap to secure the fan to the CPU

Other Thoughts: Compared to the heavy aluminum brackets I've seen on some of their older fans, my first impression of the cheesy looking, stamped metal strap that's used to secure the fan wasn't all that positive. Their not including all the screws to even install the unit sealed the deal for me. I returned it - and boy am I happy about the restocking fee! Not.

4 out of 5 eggsgreat at cooling headache to install on an 1150

Pros: It fulfills its primary purpose of cooling my cpu very well.

Cons: Will not fit on an 1150 socket with screws provided. Impossible to mount the clip for the cooler onto the bracket with the 3x6mm screws. I went to the hardware store and got a couple 3x10mm screws and I was able to install it.

Other Thoughts: Dear Zalman reps: please provide a better mount in your next design.

4 out of 5 eggsNice HSF, but don't be suckered by Rebates

Pros: As usual, Zalman makes excellent HSF for overclocking enthusiasts. I had its sister, the CNPS9900MAX, in my last build, and while they're both very large chunks of metal, you cannot argue their effectiveness.

Cons: It's a very big HSF, so it won't fit in many cases. Installation can be a little cumbersome, so it might be easier to remove the mobo prior to mounting. Also, rebates suck.

Other Thoughts: I paid a little more than it usually sells for, because Zalman promised a rebate through Par for course for the dreaded "mail-in-rebate," they claim they didn't get my documentation, and requested I re-send. Of course I don't have a second UPC to mail, so I'm out $25 because of yet another shyster rebate company.
Rebates: Not Even Once.

5 out of 5 eggsRock star cooling

Pros: Great cooling, superb design, relatively easy to install. Also has a small footprint and fits in cases/tight spots easier than others without blocking RAM slots

Cons: price without rebate? If you can afford it, go for it!

Other Thoughts: Got is cheap with rebate and am thinking Zalman may be my new 'go to' CPU cooler. Very happy with this!

5 out of 5 eggsAmazing little round thing

Pros: -Quiet
-Convenient sizing
-Nice Color
-Efficient cooling temps

Cons: Somewhat annoying installing "seesaw" like clamp onto my board for one of the screws ,but other than that for socket 1150 it was easy as pie.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat cooler for the buck

Pros: build quality seems solid, keeps my i5 4690K @4.5ghz ideal around 34-40*c and under load ~75*c ALSO very quiet

Cons: Clip seems kinda flimsy that holds heat sink to bracket, plus only one clip

4 out of 5 eggsLove the look, install is tricky

Pros: Large copper heatsink looks nice
Effective cooling

Cons: Compared to the install of the standard Intel heatsink, this Zalman install was difficult. I had a retail Intel heatsink installed on my G3258 which I decided to upgrade. I removed the existing Intel heatsink and processor in about 2 minutes. I then installed my new processor in about another minute. This Zalman heatsink required an hour to install. I had to remove the motherboard, then screw the retaining clip in. I then reinstalled the processor, applied the thermal compound and wrestled with the heatsink's screws to get it secure.

My biggest mistake was reinstalling the motherboard in my case after I attached the socket clip. The case kept blocking access to the screws on this heatsink.

Other Thoughts: I have owned several Zalman heatsinks over the years. I also have a few aftermarket coolers from other brands Given what you're paying for a nice looking aftermarket heatsink, this installation should have been easier.

If you are starting a build from scratch or are willing to pull your motherboard out of the case then the install should go more smoothly. Get the processor and heatsink on your motherboard first, then install in your case.

2 out of 5 eggsNo long term support

Pros: Very quiet
Less susceptible to dust clogging than other coolers
Cools fairly well

Cons: Design isn't the most efficient
Limited socket support

Other Thoughts: When I bought this cooler, it only came with a bracket for LGA 775.
Fast forward to today, I'm upgrading and want to use this thing for LGA 1150. To make it work, I have to get a new bracket, ZM-CS5B, which is sold out everywhere except for one guy trying to auction it for $30.
After contacting Zalman direct, they want to charge $7 because the product is now "out of warranty".
However, other manufacturers have offered FREE bracket kits for this exact same situation (see CoolerMaster's Evo). So if you want long term support for future sockets, you might want to look elsewhere.
