For the PC-enthusiast who wants a desktop that looks sizzling hot, yet stays remarkably cool, check out the Zalman CNP9500 AT CPU Cooler featuring a fan and heatsink! This hi-tech cooling device lends a rich, bright look to your PC with its flashy heatsink and frame, durably crafted out of pure copper.
The heatsink saves space with an architecturally sound 3-pipe system that effortlessly whisks heat away with the help of the automatic fan’s 92mm blades and 2 ball bearings. Controlling the fan is a PWM chip, which automatically adjusts the fan’s speed based on CPU temperature. It operates at a stealthy 18.0 dB at 1300 RPM and quietly revs to 27.5 dB at 2650 RPM during heated PC action.
Compatible with a Socket 775 platform, the Zalman Pro works flawlessly with Intel’s Dual Core Pentium, Pentium 4, and Celeron D systems. For ultra-cool protection and aggressive styling, the Zalman CPU Cooler is the way to go.
Pros: I have a P4 EE 3.46 GHz processor which with stock heatsink/fan & thermal compound ran 55C idle and high 70s on full load. I just installed this along with arctic silver 5 compound and now I idle at 37C and full load 50-51C, and this is 20 minutes after installing. I should get another 5C lower after the compound works itself in.
Cons: Handle with care, has many very thin layers of copper for efficient cooling. I have a somewhat normal sized case that this large heatsink had to fit into, which it did with no problem, but with minimal work space I ended up with a few small cuts on my hands.
Other Thoughts: Might be a difficult installation for users who don't regularly do these kinds of things inside their computers. It took my about 20 minutes to basically unplug everything, take out motherboard to install backplate, reinstall everything and get it up and running.

Excellent Heatsink!

Tech Level: high - Ownership: 1 day to 1 week
Pros: This heatsink dropped my Intel P4 D 3.2Ghz dual-core CPU temprature from 66C to 51C under a full load. It's far quieter than the heatsink that came with the processor!
Cons: Hard to install. Had to remove the motherboard from the case in order to affix the support bracket. Be careful while handling this thing. The fins are SHARP!
Other Thoughts: I still gave this a 5 even though it was difficult to install due to the huge difference in temprature it produced. The payoff in lowered temp more than makes up for the installation issues.

Pros: Cool and quiet...Make sure you have the room. I was looking for quiet and reliability. This has been running for 4 months without issue and pretty quiet.
Cons: Sharp and can bend...be careful.
Other Thoughts: wow, this thing is big. I haven't built a machine in a little while and did not know that fans are getting this big.
