Scanning made simple, the Canon CanoScan LiDE 60 is an attractive, easy-to-use, and compact option for fast color and B&W image and document scans. Four buttons up front tell the LiDE 60 exactly what you want to do: Scan, Copy, Create PDF, and E-mail. Just place the original on the 8.5x11.7-inch scanning surface, hit the button for what you want to do, and in approximately 9 seconds your scan can be previewed on your monitor.
The Contact Image Sensor (CIS) can scan at up to 1,200x2,400 color dpi resolutions and with 48-bit color depth. The sensor also allows this scanner to be compact, weighing less than four pounds, and require nothing more than a USB cable to send images to your computer and power the unit. Plus, an included desktop stand lets you place the scanner vertically to save desk space. Another unique feature is Canon's Z-Lid for working with bulky items. The lid lifts approximately 1 inch vertically then lies down flat on the item you are scanning.
A software package is bundled with the LiDE 60 too, with Canon's Quick Automatic Retouching and Enhancement (QARE) technology that reduces much of the dust and scratches that may appear on your older originals.

Great buy. Very Portable.
- Pros: First and formost, because the USB cable provides power and data transfer, this scanner is extreamly portable. Not much thicker than my 15 inch Powerbook G4 it easily fits in my backpack. Great to have when doing research in the library reference section as you can use it to scan documents and materials in that you normally can not take out of the library. Best of all it comes with OCR software that by itself would normally cost as much as the scanner.
- Cons: The only thing really is that the software from Arcsoft that is bundled in is not very good in comparison to iPhoto and Adobe Photoshop (CS2 or Elements) and thus is not really worth installing.
- Other Thoughts: I bought this to replace my Canon N670U which would not work with Mac OS 10.4 Tiger. This scanner however works like a dream with Tiger.
Good Choice
- Pros: MUCH faster than the LiDe 35 I used at a friends. I was skeptical at first what the differences are, but its definately the speed. It had to of been 15-20 seconds total for a 8x10 scan at 300dpi. You can also place multiple pictures in and crop each one seperately in one process and it will automatically scan each one and import it into whatever program your working in without having to go back in and recrop each one. Lots of nice touchup features available too. The scanner looks much nicer in person. Love the all around metallic silver and black theme, matches all my other equipment.
- Cons: It may just be mine, but if you open the lid fast it makes a small snappy sound like inside pad is catching on something and then coming free. If you open it easily it dosent do it. I cant find the source of the noise or any scratches or marks, so its not a big deal to me. Had to run the initial install from the CD to get the scanner working. I usually bypass the CD drivers and just download the latest off the official website first, but this seemed to be picky. Friend thought it was a laptop at first! :)
- Other Thoughts: It was definately a good choice, very impressed with the speed. Will make my work much quicker.

Great pickup!
- Pros: Unbelievable performance. I had to scan in all our family photos and ended up running four hundred fifty five scans in about 2 days. It only recalibrated itself twice and worked great! I don't know about the software thing, I've never used it, I just use the TWAIN import feature in Photoshop.
- Cons: Didn't find it sooner....!
- Other Thoughts: You can't beat it for this price. I've never written a review on newegg, but I was so impressed I just had to.
- Pros: It is a fast scanner that provides very good quality. The software is solid and provides some nice features and lots of tweaks. I like the fact the USB2 cable provides power to the unit, it makes for a clean setup. Very nice unit!
- Cons: None
Great buy
- Pros: Just Works with Linux (tested with Ubuntu and LTSP terminal)
Fast scanning for the price (about 10 seconds per page in greyscale) Great greyscale quality. No power cord.
- Cons: Color quality is good for general use, but I don't think it would be great for photo scanning.
