4 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Large storage, large screen, easy navigation, easy sync, and well-designed.

Cons: Little to no accessory options.

Other Thoughts: There's a slot for possible accessory options on the bottom, but no actual accessories for it (yet?)

4 out of 5 eggsCould be better with firmware update!!!

Pros: The menu is very easy to navigate. The screen is crystal clear. Good sound from the stock ear buds.

Cons: Battery life could be better. A firm ware update could do a lot for battery life. The LCD is on constantly even when the backlight has turned off. It's hard to see. But, in the right light you can see text and images on the screen when it is supposed to be off. Also, when you hit the power button it doesn't really turn off. It just goes into standby mode which is still draining power. Customer support from Toshiba is really lacking. Toshiba's nice looking flash site is buggy. Toshiba really needs to work on it's customer support if they want to continue to be a power in the electronics industry.

Other Thoughts: This is a good player. The music life of the battery is comperable to an old discman, 12 hours or so. You can expand that by having playlists and not having to search for the music you want. This player could be so much better with a firmware update. A firmware update could vastly improve battery life. The LCD is on all the time no matter what the player is doing. I believe the LCD even stays on when the unit is in standby mode. Hard to tell when nothing is on the screen. The LCD does stay on while playing music even though the back light has turned off. If the LCD were to turn off as well, this could save a lot of power. All in all, it's a good media player. But, it could be better.

3 out of 5 eggsAlmost the coolest thing ever

Pros: This thing is SLICK. It just looks cool. It feels solid in your hand (but not heavy) still fits in your pocket. Looks way cooler than an iPod. Bright screen, the user interface is GORGEOUS. I could spend all day switching the menus back and forth! Sound quality is great, easy to connect to PC. I love WMP, so having to use it is no problem for me. CONFIGURING WMP not to do stuff automatically was a bit of a pain though.

Cons: Letting it sit overnight drains the battery, I have to charge it daily. I've sent it back to Toshiba 2 times so far, no change yet. I'm going to request a new unit from them. My dad got one too, his works PERFECT. I get about 1-2 hours of battery life. He charges his once ever two weeks, and listens to it daily

Other Thoughts: If it weren't for mine being a defective unit, this would be the coolest toy I own (and I have a few toys!!). The picture show feature is pretty cool. The video mode can be output onto a TV, which is cool for taking your player to your friends' and watching some movies you have on the gigabeat. If you can get one that works, You'll LOVE IT. Otherwise, expect headaches (and paying $$ to ship it back and forth) I just want it to work right!!!!

3 out of 5 eggsGreat player with a few problems you just can't ignore

Pros: 60GB storage is great, I can fit my entire collection with a bit to spare. The audio quality and codec support are excellent.

Cons: Battery life is really short, I get on average about 9-12 hours of life. There is also a problem with the screen, dust gets under the screen and it is impossible to remove causing i to be very difficult to see parts of the screen when sun hits it. There are absolutely NO proper accessories available for this player. Can't find a case, cradle, car holder, etc... for it anywhere. Only very generic accessories will work with it and they just don't fit right.

Other Thoughts: The button locations are a little annoying sometimes but it is something you get used to. Example, the power button is directly above the volume control and sometimes you accidentally hit it while trying to adjust volume. I've gotten used to it and now I very rarely make that mistake.

4 out of 5 eggsGood Product

Pros: Very easy to use with windows media center. Uses standard USB and comes with AC Adapter charger, unlike other mp3/4 products. Also windows media player can convert movie files when synching so saving movies is easy as well.

Cons: Battery life, Battery Life, Battery Life.... It is hard to get the 12 hours as advertised out of it. Also in order to maximize the battery's charge you HAVE to use the AC Adapter, the USB can't charge it to full capacity although it will tell you it is fully charged when it isn't if you are using the USB to charge.

Other Thoughts: Would be nice to be able to make play lists using the player other than the quick list mode.

5 out of 5 eggsI like it!

Pros: Great Picture, Great Sound, Easy to Use, Last a LONG time for just playing MP3

Cons: As others have said the battery doesn't last long for video at all! It will not die in a day though if you are playing MP3's... you have to turn the battery disconnect switch off overnight or it will run down a little.

Other Thoughts: I bought this about 4 months ago from w**t for a bit less... i think it is a good buy if they fix the battery problem.

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Extremely simple interface, universal and very compatible with Windows XP and Windows Media Player. Pretty sexy looking too.

Cons: Battery life. The music plays for about 12 hours which is fine, but video clocks at just about two hours which is disappointing. I'd advise an external battery pack if you like to watch movies on long trips. Also, some more accessories would be nice. A custom equalizer is also lacking which is bad.

Other Thoughts: Besides battery life, lack of accessories and a custom equalizer, this MP3 player is brilliantly made. If you're looking for an alternative to the near monopoly iPod has, the Gigabeat is your answer.

5 out of 5 eggsJealous Apples

Pros: Awesomeness to the maxX! This player has looks, space and durability that cannot be suprassed by or even matched by apxxxs "Ipoo"
Great durability tumbled down a flight of stairs stilled rocked on with not stuttering

Cons: That it doesn't come in white! (Yes i know there is a 30gb one in white but i have too much music for that)

Other Thoughts: This a real lady pleaser. Everytime i whip it out all the girls are like what is that? I showed them and they
fall in love with it. Other have wanted to trade ipod and 50 dollars for gigabeat. I said no.

5 out of 5 eggsMore good stuff than you cna shake a stick at!

Pros: Great sound quality, great interface, easy to use. FM tuner sounds good as well. Hooks to Digital cameras with ease. Nothing to setup if you have windows xp or above. Best bang for buck compared to alternate iternatives. Drag-n-Drop feature is also quite swell.

Cons: Make sure if you are pluging it into a pc that you dont have music loaded on to turn off autosync in media player, or you will prolly lose any music on the gigabeat. (Hence its called autosync for a reason.)

Other Thoughts: It would be nice to have some docks or other cool gadgets come out for it.

5 out of 5 eggsGREAT MP3 PLAYER!!

Pros: NO DRM!!, no need to install a program to transfer music. awesome sound quality, superb build quality, very durable(ive dropped it a few times and it still works great), very easy navigation, 60GB!!, sharp screen, Love the TV out option!!!!! I have had many mp3 players and this is by far the best!!

Cons: Wished it played other video files besides WMV. But just used a good file converting program and it runs smooth.

Other Thoughts: This proves there are other and better MP3s players out there besides the ipod!!
Check the biggest online auction site for stuff like cases and accessories!!
