5 out of 5 eggsQuestion regarding Speaker plug

Pros: This is my first time putting a system together, Found the instructions clear and understandable. However, my Antec Case has a small built in speaker and I have a plug that I cannot locate pins on the Mobo to plug this into. Not sure if newer boards still allow for Mobo Speaker?

Cons: Other than plugging in the speaker none that I can think of.

Other Thoughts: The post by people who purchased this an other products is extremely helpful. I made several purchasing decisions based upon people taking the time to post comments.

5 out of 5 eggsToo cheap to tivo

Pros: Blindingly simple to install. The detail on the fold out instalI sheet is great for getting the front panel wiring in.(I hate those little plugs) built this for my family room as a DVR. hauppage HD tv card, 4gb corsair DDR2 800,intel 3.00 dual core ,500gb seagate HD,Nvidia 8600gt vid card ,gigabte titan box,500w PS. multi card reader. Vista ultimate.Works great, runs cool. run both my tv cable into it and internet.Great value for the money

Cons: None really

Other Thoughts: An Esata port would be nice , I think 1394 is past its prime. had a left over port from a previous gigabyte board( not a good experience) and use that.

4 out of 5 eggsAs expected

Pros: Excellent foundation to build a machine. Intel always has a solid product. I've never experienced an out of box failure.

Cons: None at present

5 out of 5 eggsGood, stable board

Pros: Very stable board that was easy to assemble, and having everything onboard is just a plus. I don't overclock/game or do high end graphics, so the basic board is just great for what I do.

Cons: None, so far.

Other Thoughts: There is no hard-copy manual, but the entire manual is on the CDROM in PDF format, very easy to print out before you even begin. I had mine printed and ready to go before I started assembly.

4 out of 5 eggsOne week in, so far so good

Pros: Seems solid so far, but I don't overclock. Worked fine right out of the box with very little problems. Gets along with Vista, and is more or less as advertised.

Cons: A few oddities more than anything else, but basic stuff.. A lot of things around the PCI-e 16 slot, so put the vid card in last... Doesn't really have a manual. Came with a fold-out quickstart guide that was mainly just pictures and numbers. It does have great pictures for the panel and USB plugs and such, but a standard manual would have been nice. I believe the full manual is on the CD, but that doesn't help much when building it..

Other Thoughts: I ordered on a Tuesday, with standard UPS shipping, it got here Wednesday!! NewEgg is crazy!

4 out of 5 eggsBasically good

Pros: Relatively inexpensive, 3 PCI slots, support for various FSBs. And on-board VGA (why are they getting rid of that??)

Cons: Linux installation required the "ACPI=off" parameter, which, as far as I can tell, means the power won't actually shut off on its own when you shutdown the computer.

Other Thoughts: Aside from the ACPI issue, I had no other problems with the Linux installation. Also, despite the warning from other reviewers, I did not have to change the SATA ports to IDE. That was the default on my board.

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: I tried to use VMware ESX server with this board and it seems to work well it did not recgonize the onboard NIC but everything else worked. It worked with windows XP and Vista no problem

Cons: I wish it had more PCI-express 16x slots

5 out of 5 eggsSetup comments

Pros: Working fine with an Intel 1333 E6550. Remember to change BIOS settings to "see SATA as IDE" if you're installing XP first thing before the OS.

Cons: None. Of course the LGA 775 cooler install is a pain, but the key is to do it BEFORE you mount the board in the case--then you can easily see if the pins are in all the way or not.

Other Thoughts: This board IS compatible with several 800 FSB core duo processors, the Newegg specs don't mention that; check at the Intel website for a list of all the processors that work with this board. Also, re the comment below about XP users needing to apply a hotfix before the inf install, this fix is already included in XP Service Pack 3--just install that right after the XP OS install, then the inf files, and no problems with the USB ports.
