4 out of 5 eggsSlightly glitchy

Pros: Works fine almost 3 years later.

Cons: The internal LAN port stopped working completely less than 6 months into ownership. I just disabled it and used a PCI LAN card. It wasn't a software problem. Then last year I was setting stuff up and tried it again. It's suddenly working again. It's been working ever since.

Other Thoughts: I always associated ASUS with quality, so I was disappointed the internal LAN died so quickly. Not sure what happened that made it start working again.

2 out of 5 eggssent for repairs, still problem with board

Pros: worked great, up untill it started random freeze, restarts, hangs. EVERYTIME I have to reset all BIOS settings.

Cons: Had it repaired and it still does the same thing. mem, vid, anything connected isn't the problem. checked it all out!

Other Thoughts: This board is great, when it worked!

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Valued Customer,

We're sorry to hear about the instability issue you had with the motherboard. Please try updating the latest BIOS available, load BIOS defaults, set the memory frequency/timing/voltage, check the CPU temperature, and PSU. Regarding having to reset BIOS setting, does the system give an error message if it's not reset? Do you have a RMA # so I can review your case? Please email me at cl-benson@asus.com (reference #C1037-8001 in the subject line). Thank you.

4 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Nice board two years ago when i bought it. Still going strong.

Cons: Doesn't support sata III 6 gb

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Valued Customer,

The SB710 chipset on this motherboard allows for five SATA II 3.0 Gb/s. If you are looking for SATA III 6 Gb/ps, please take a look at our M5 series motherboard such as the very popular M5A97 at http://www.asus.com/Motherboards/AMD_AM3Plus/M5A97/#overview.

2 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Not really

Cons: customer service is complicated and sometimes poor. First board was dead on arrival, returned same and although Asus insisted it was repaired, it came back in same packaging and exact same problem. Returned to them again and this time I received a different board properly packaged in a plain box with new serial number. 9 months later it died again this time they wanted to do and expidite repair and would need me to fax my credit card number to them. When I refused the return process ground to a near halt. Finally after speaking with several hear again gone again reps the board got shipped after 1.5 months, then they couldn't find it at their facility. Finally got board back then after about 2 more months I finally hear from the original rep that contacted me only to disappear. Asking me if I still needed assistance. Except for 1 rep I dealt with when I resent the original board back again seemed genuinely interested. In general, customer service left a lot to be desired.

Other Thoughts: And the quality of the board is still yet another issue. My last board was an MSI and it lasted for 8 years and only had to be upgraded for more speed. Doubt if I will ever buy another Asus product.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Valued Customer,

We apologize for the issue you had with the motherboard and the quality of our customer service.

We are in the process of improving our service and support so that you can receive replacements sooner and with faster and accurate status updates. We do ask for credit card authorization when we process advance replacement but always have to option of regular RMA instead.

We value your feedback and thank you for taking the time to let us know.

1 out of 5 eggsASUCK

Pros: Nothing

Cons: I am going on my third RMA with this motherboard. Stay away from all ASUS procducts. I spoke with the CSR to trouble shoot the motherboard. He told me to run it with one stick of RAM. He also was adamant about just sending me a new motherboard.

3 out of 5 eggsGood for about a year

Pros: Worked good for a while.

Cons: Network adaptor went bad after about a year. Bought an add-on card. Few months later started getting freezes, reboots and blue screens. Learned to vacate cpu and memory slots simultaneously, so that both were empty, then re-seat the components. Finally bought a substitute board and sent the Asus back to the company. They "fixed" it and sent it back to me. Only they didn't bother telling me they didn't fix it. So I went and did the swap and lo and behold, same thing! Now, with no real resistance, they agree to send me a new board. But why couldn't they do that in the first place? What did they learn with this extra round trip? Maybe they own stock in Fedex. Aside from low score on competence, they were at least nice on the phone.

Other Thoughts: Now that I know how the RMA department works, I'll be on top of it next time.

Getting real good at swapping out a motherboard. 15 mins.

1 out of 5 eggsAsus support: SHAMEFUL

Pros: Only reason for 1 egg is Asus uses Newegg for distribution

Cons: I have built computers for over 15yrs. and used Asus boards exclusively. Perhaps in their defense I have only needed tech or warranty support this one time. However, after this experience will NEVER use Asus again. At least this board was in my own workstation and not a client's. My first call to support I was told their systme was down. It stayed "down" for 3 days!! I asked them if they were really a tech company? Next their rep sent me "wrong" paperwork which cause another week delay. I decided to buy a Gigabyte board for replacement and wait for Asus to replace my board at their leisure. 6 weeks later I have now received the original board back with comment on repair order "no problems found" Really?? I am certainly small potatoes in Asus' world as have only bought 200+ boards over the yrs. when Newegg and others probably buy that many per day, however, I expected much more from Asus especially after telling at least 3 support people the situation. So long ASUS!!!

Other Thoughts: Reading other reviews it is clear Asus support is SHAMEFUL. They might be able to lose single end users like myself at first, however, the cumlative effect WILL catch up with them and they WILL pay for their shamefull support.....

1 out of 5 eggsDoes not work with many Phenom x6 processors

Pros: none

Cons: everything. It's a fine mother board except that it's incompatible with some Phenom x6 processors (which of course if what I have). I have a Phenom II x6 1100T and the motherboard will not POST. Meaning, it will turn on but you will not see BIOS or boot. Total fail.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Valued Customer,
