3 out of 5 eggsDied after 14 months

Pros: Very fast. Gave me absolutely no trouble up until 2 days ago. I originally give this drive a 5-star review. After purchasing, I read all the reviews about the SSD dieing, and hoped I was luckier than most and my drive would continue working. Alas, my luck ran out.

SanDisk was very responsive. I called them the day after the drive died, and they gave me an RMA the same day. I have not yet received the replacement. The 3 stars are for the drive, not SanDisk. They've done all they can do.

Cons: Drive failure, obviously. Other than that, I was happy with the Ultra 120. To those who still have this drive, you have plenty of warning that your drive will likely fail. Make sure you take regular full-drive backups, so *when* it fails, you'll be prepared. I had backups, so was able to get running again in one day, with all my programs intact.

Other Thoughts: Drives fail - hard drives and, now we know, SSDs too. It's a major inconvenience when they do, but if you have a backup procedure, then failures need not be a catastrophe.

A normal reaction is to get mad at the manufacturer. Let's be harsh and say the Ultra is a problem product. We can't really expect a manufacturer to proactively replace millions of shipped units, perhaps many of which will never fail. We can expect a fast response when failure occurs, and SanDisk is doing that.

So, I say, accept the replacement and move forward.

2 out of 5 eggsBorn, December 2011, Died March 2013

Pros: Lasted over a year.
Was fast while it lasted.

Cons: Died well within the warranty. Simply stops being recognized as a boot drive. Reinstall OS, week later, dies again.

2 out of 5 eggs12 and Done

Pros: I install alot of SSD's and this is my first failure, but i must say for the 12months this was installed it was fast and reliable.. Oh well hopefully the replacement model they send me is more reliable.

Cons: Died after 12months almost to the day.

Other Thoughts: I think SSD's have made some vast improvements in the past year and i hope Sandisk has also made some improvements , can't wait for my RMA..

1 out of 5 eggsAnother one bits the dust

Pros: Price was fantastic. Easy swap out and cool running, fast compared to standard hard drive.

Cons: one year and dead. Non responsive as a drive, just dead. I'm really not happy with dead and unable to save anything.

Other Thoughts: I have purchased other manufactures and they are all working fine. This was my first and LAST sandisk

1 out of 5 eggsDead after 14 months

Pros: Lasted this long

Cons: Took all my data with it. SSD's even from trusted names are unreliable. make a scheduled backup system and prepare to RMA. SSD will fail.

2 out of 5 eggsDead in 10 months

Pros: Performed great while it worked. It was a good deal for $99 at the time of purchase.

Cons: Suddenly stopped working after ~9 months. I chose not to RMA the drive because of the seemingly high failure rate for this particular model.

5 out of 5 eggsExcellence

Pros: Booted it up the first day and counted less than 12 second boot to desktop with windows 7. AMAZING. I have never had anything this fast, plus I am running it on a HDX 18 HP Laptop and I have found the batter lasts forever now! I have owned it for over a year and it hasn't even glitched on me once. SOLID BUILD SanDisk! Keep building them like this and I'll keep buying and referring you company!

Cons: none

Other Thoughts: Maybe make them cheaper, I bought mine on sale at less than $100.00 I think, the ones today aren't any cheaper. When is this technology going to go down in price?

4 out of 5 eggsGood while it lasted

Pros: Ran Windows 7 flawlessly for 13 months
No issues with it
Super fast at everything I threw at it

Cons: Around 13 months after using it, it died
Reading other reviews this is pretty typical for the model

Other Thoughts: After contacting Sandisk Support, they are sending me an upgraded Extreme model to replace it, so they are good at giving you a replacement
Works out ok, in the process of building a new gaming rig so the new Extreme SSD will work out nicely

4 out of 5 eggsGood Company

Pros: Great device when it was working, would buy Sandisk again

Sandisk stands up to it's warranty and great customer service. I would buy again!

Cons: Drive seems to have a short lifespan at about a year. I am RMA'ing the drive back and Sandisk is replacing it

Other Thoughts: 3yr warranty and died just past a year, heck, didn't even use it for that long... seems like it has an expiry date like a loaf of bread.
