5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: This card gives you a lot of performance for a low price. I bought this a low-budget replacement for an older Nvidia card that died on me. I've had this for over a year and I've had no trouble with it yet.

It's rather outdated now, but if you need a cheap card for handling older games this will more than suffice. Installation was easy and I had no trouble getting it working on my XP (later Win 7) PC

Cons: This card seems to run a bit hot, and the fan on it probably isn't as powerful as it need to be.

2 out of 5 eggsnot very reliable

Pros: When it worked, it handled high-res settings on Starcraft II very well.

Cons: Video card failed after 4 months. It must be returned to the manufacturer for replacement. Card overheats, and software drivers do not control fan speed properly to keep the video processor cool. Heat/sink fan assembly is very thick, so card did not fit in my small form factor case without cutting a hole in the case.

Other Thoughts: Buy something else.

5 out of 5 eggsOver a year. No issues.

Pros: Not going to get too in-depth, but I've had this since March of 2010 and it hasn't given me a single problem. I put a very, very quiet, low speed fan on in replacement of stock fan. IDT the original was loud, but I like my office whisper quiet. It's a great simple card.

Cons: None.

Other Thoughts: I bought this to play Crysis back in March 2010 and IIRC, I don't get max settings, but I get way up there. Enough that it looks like I'm living in a jungle. It was AMAZING at the time.

5 out of 5 eggsDecent card

Pros: This card is pretty good, it scored a 6.8 on Aero and 3d on WEI. I didn't run any others benchmarks. This card is great as a dedicated physx processor. I really bought the 512mb model for $64.99, but that one was deactivated before I could post my review.

Cons: Runs hot. But it is okay. Nvidia.com says its max temp is 105c.
Sparkle could have done better with the heatsink. I mean come on, is dual slot width really necessary? Yeah I guess so when you decide to cut costs and go with a cheap block of aluminum with even cheaper attached fan to use as a heatsink. I was tempted to pull off the heatsink and see what they used instead of real thermal compound, but I don't want to start trying to pull it off only to find out they used JB Weld instead of thermal compound.

Other Thoughts: Looking at the temps right now, it is idling @ 57c and playing Gears of War, the max temp was 59c. NOTE: Temps are of it being used as a physx processor ONLY. My max temp under load with it used as the GPU, and not for physx, it reached a peak of 81c playing GOW with graphics settings set at maximum for everything. Recommended for use as a dedicated physx processor, if you have two or three PCI-E slots. I am satisfied with this option rather than buying two brand new cards and going with SLI.

4 out of 5 eggsSolid card for very specific circumstances

Pros: Powerful card in a low profile design. Runs L4D, TF2, COD4 fully maxed. With proper cooling, this card is a good overclocking candidate. HDMI out w/ sound connector

Cons: Heatsink is terrible!(minus one egg), especially for low profile cases. Temps would easily reach 81 C during game play (no overclocking). Although it made me nervous, it never affected gameplay. I did end up using a ZALMAN VF900 to cool the card better. Warning, this cooler WILL NOT fit in a low profile case. Temps dropped to 40 C under load. You will need to use a separate 3pin power source for the ZALMAN VF900 though.

The stock clock speed is only 600 MHz, slow when compared to other GTS 250 cards.

HDMI sound connector was a bit confusing to hook up, you'll need you mobo manual.

Other Thoughts: Overall, I am pleased with this card. The heatsink is bad, and the core clock is about 100 MHz too slow. However, if you install the ZALMAN VF900, both of these problems are easily fixed.

For the price of this card and a gpu cooler, you might be better off getting a full-size card with higher clock and better heatsink. I only used this card because I switched from a low profile to full-size case. But if you are looking for a powerful card to throw into a small case, this is a good choice.

5 out of 5 eggsAmazing

Pros: Runs all my games on highest settings exceptionally.

Cons: Runs very hot while gaming but it doesn't seem to matter.

Other Thoughts: Easy installation, although I had to bind up some power extensions due to it hitting the fan of my mobo.

5 out of 5 eggsGREAT BUY!

Pros: Low Profile, fits in my Siverstone Sugo 5 Case, and low power consumption.

Cons: Heatsink is horrible!
idle temps 60c and reached 90c on load first few minutes in Starcraft 2

Other Thoughts: For all the people that complained about the heat issue. I fixed that with the Zalman VF950 gpu cooler and some
MX-5 heatsink compound.
My computer
CPU Temps: 33c-34c idle : 40c-43c load
GPU Temps: 32c idle : 56c load ( playing Starcraft 2 )
GPU fan on mid set on medium ( not to audible )

5 out of 5 eggsBest Low Profile Graphics card bar you'll find

Pros: I spent probably a total of 20-30 hours (at work) looking for graphics cards for my slim tower PC. This was by far the highest end card I found that was low-profile.

It runs Starcraft II remarkably. Also, Autodesk Inventor 2011 (a 3D modeling program) runs without any hiccups AT ALL even with HUGE assembly files.

I felt like I was playing the original Pacman with both these programs before getting this card.

Comes with SPDIF cable to connect sound output from your motherboard (usually available on newer motherboards) for output through the HDMI (I think, I'm still checking on this with Sparkle's tech support)

Cons: Seems like it runs hot but I don't have a temperature gun or anything to give a real number and I would expect it to run hot when I play Starcraft II on the highest graphics settings. still cooler than my PSU...

Sparkle tech support is slow to get around to answering my question on the sound output.

Other Thoughts: Better cards will come out with time, but right now (9/28/2010) this is the best single low profile card you will find.
