A Great Little Quad

white Reviewed By: Sephira Lutherinne on 11/23/2008

This user purchased this item from Newegg
Pros: Very Fast. I am thouroughly impressed with the speed with it un-overclocked. I paired this with a Gigabyte GA-MA78GPM and 4GB of G.Skill PI Black. Running XP 64 and you are just asking for speed with this combo.

Nowadays finding low power Quad Cores aren't easy. AMD has pretty much succeeded in creating one and to be honest this processor doesn't get much attention (which is a shame).

Its a great processor for running an HTPC or a File Server. Runs relatively cool (not surprising as it only uses 65W or power) 34C Idle and 45C at full power and thats in heated room with a Zalman CNPS 8000 and the PC is in an enclosed TV Stand (with the doors open mind you).

Don't second guess yourself to buying this.
Cons: Seriously?? None.
Other Thoughts: Don't Listen to the first review. This CPU isn't a benchmarking CPU (the 65W power consumption should tell you that right off the bat). Unlike other CPU's this one is NOT made to go as fast as possible, it's made to go fast ENOUGH. To do its job and it does it rather well for a 2 Ghz processor.

The Coolest Perfomer

This user purchased this item from Newegg
Pros: When bundled with 8gb of RAM, the quad core is perfection. The processor, with a good Zalman, stays perfectly cool. The processor runs stable and makes a good gaming processor. I honestly do not see people needing more clock speed or power than this. I would recommend this also for HTPC builds as well.

It works on most motherboards. That is the advantage of AMD. Their processors seem to have a better record of not needing BIOS updates.

For interests beyond:
The cooler is a Zalman 9500 with a very cooling-efficient case (200mm + 120mm around the processor). I can see idles at 34C and loads can get at 47C max (Prime95).

I think you will be happy you bought this. Any thing else is just too expensive personally, too hot, or too excessive. I honestly have no overclocked this, but I will say that it is plenty fast already for gaming.
Cons: Really, none.
Other Thoughts: It is fast. Pair it with 4gb+ of RAM (8gb recommended by me). If you do your build right with a good chipset, you are asking for speed and perfection. Vista runs as it should and everything goes the way it ought to.

100% recommended for all uses. It is cheap and cool. What else could you want out of a processor?

AMD Phenom 9350e – Good Processor for the Money

white Reviewed By: Clagmaster on 1/5/2010
Rating + 5
Tech Level Tech Level: high - Ownership: 1 month to 1 year
This user purchased this item from Newegg
Pros: This is the first 65W Quad Core processor available to the market. What I like about this processor is the great value for the money. This processor is fast, offering very good performance for reasonable cost compared to Intel 65W Quad Core offerings (normally costing 2-3x more than this processor).
Cons: No significant cons. Stock heatsink is adequate but when this processor is fully stressed with Prime95, temperatures are higher than I care to see. This processor could well be consuming slightly more than 65W when fully stressed. Otherwise, CPU temperatures are acceptable for light to moderate usage. I would recommend a heatsink upgrade if you plan to fully utilize this processor.
Other Thoughts: I am satisfied with this processor. This processor is for discerning mainstream users who care about good performance for reasonable cost and low power consumption. If you are such a user, this processor is for you.

Single and Multi-threaded applications are very responsive. I run this processor with Windows Home XP installed on ASUS M3A78-EM motherboard with 4 GB of Kingston DDR2-800 memory and a pair of 640GB Western Digital Green harddrives. Since this processor operates at 2.0 GHz clock speed, this allows DDR2-800 to be operated at rated frequency (since the CPU frequency is divisible by 400 MHz).

Good cpu

This user purchased this item from Newegg
Pros: Got this cpu with a motherboard combo. Always careful about combos for various reasons, but nothing to be careful of here. Quad core build is for a gaming computer and runs all my games on high settings easily. The best thing about this processor really has to be the stock heatsync that came with it. It locks extremely tight to the cpu and keeps it extremely cool. average temperature is 21c and even under a full burn it never got over 29c. Combined this with Asus M3N72-D motherboard, GTX 260 video card and 2 GB Gskill 1066 DDR2 RAM.
Cons: Nothing really.

Cons: None yet!
Other Thoughts: Buy it, I am sure you wont be disappointed, unless you get a DOA. LOL!!!!
