*Versatile, we use for local travel since we live 25 minutes from stores/shopping AND we use while working out on elliptical machine at home
*Korean made. My husband is born n raised from So. Korea and without a doubt, they put out a product that will NOT bring shame to their country but also at an affordable price. (I do not support products from China, period!)
*We own three of these DVD players at this price and have had ZERO problems except one minor one....when I opened the second one, a lil tiny sticker that was on the paper dvd inside got attached to the lid, so that when I put a real dvd in for the first time, it said that the disc could not be read....I kept trouble shooting what the problem was until I found the lil sticker on the lid an removed it and wah-laa, problem solved. I am sure someone else may have had the same thing happen but RETURNED the item thinking it did NOT work. NOT!!!!

Cons: Captions turn on automatically. Haven't taken the time to see if I can change this setting or not, I just use set up to turn off. I have spent $135 for THREE nice DVD players, so this is a minor irritation compared to the amount of money I have saved!

Other Thoughts: If you have never considered korean made products, give them a chance, for the price, you get decent quality product.

Pros: Works great ! 2 surprise bonuses for me -- it plays DivX, and the power adapter takes 110 t0 240 V.

Video is pretty good. Audio isn't great, but that's as to be expected for such a small device with such a low price.

Cons: Looks a bit ugly. Attaching the battery was a nightmare, and now I don't dare un-attach it. Not a major problem, though.

Other Thoughts: Very good buy for the price. Maybe I'll get another to gift somebody.

Cons: Non-functioning out of the box; low quality construction; bulky, awkward battery attachment.

Other Thoughts: The Digix DVD player did not work right out of the box. For the price, I didn't expect anything fancy, but thought I'd get a little utilitarian unit that would be handy for watching video lectures while our regular TV was otherwise engaged. However, despite trying to play several different DVDs and CDs for 2 hours the day I received it, all I got was the default player screen and a frustrating motor noise - the player would spin the disk, but would not load it. However, newegg.ca gave me a full refund - which is why I don't have any qualms about continuing to shop with them.

Pros: Cheap! The battery life is very good. Sound quality is surprisingly good, and has a very good volume level - can be listened to even in an old noisy car. Picture quality is acceptable. Has no problems playing commercial, DVD-R or DVD+R recorded discs. Overall, it does what it's supposed to at a cheapo price. It has a DC input that takes 9-12v - I fashioned myself a car cigarette lighter adapter for use in the car... it works fine.

Cons: Very poor build quality. It's a heck of a job to attach the battery - I suggest once you've forced it on, never remove it again. The plastic body cracked when I fully extended the hinge so the screen was flat. Required glue and duct tape to repair (I would normally have returned the product at this point, but was about to go on vacation). The aspect ratio doesn't seem to be set correctly always - e.g. Wall-E is stretched way beyond 16:9. Maybe this can be changed via the setup - I haven't messed with it to see.

Other Thoughts: Chunky and ugly, and clearly cheaply made. But it sells for a low price and at the end of the day it succeeds in playing movies. Would have been nice if it included a car power cord, but you can pick one up cheaply, or else make one yourself from bits lying around the house.

Pros: A good qulity great priced product. How can you go wrong with a portable DVD player that works with such a great price?

Cons: Battery connection is a bit wierd and bulky - but it still does the job and gives great battery life.

Other Thoughts: I would recommend this product to anyone looking for a portable DVD player. Yes it may have its issues but at the end of the day all that matters is that the product works and it gets the job done!

Cons: It doesn't play the entire DVD. It gets about 75% done and then freezes. It frequently gets stuck on the 'menu' screen of the DVD, the battery was nearly impossible to attach, and if you open the DVD bay before it has completely stopped the reader gets stuck somewhere in the middle, and wont recognize future DVD's unless manually placed at the start. Overall it's a total junk. Not worth the $50.

Pros: Nice box.

Cons: Complete junk. Poor quality noticed immediately right out of box. I didn't even bother powering it on, it'll be getting returned today.

Other Thoughts: I ordered a few of these for a company give away. Egg on my face? Tune in.

Pros: Acceptable picture quality given the CAD$59 I paid for it. Overall it's usable.

Cons: Very, very cheaply made. It's not even possible to attach the battery pack to the back of the unit because the tabs on the battery pack have been machined so poorly that they don't fit into the slots on the DVD player.

The battery can still be plugged in if you don't mind it just "dangling" rather than clipping on to the unit, but that's hardly an ideal solution.

Unit also had some (very) minor scuffs all over its housing, again indicative of a cheapy manufacturing process. Nothing to warrant a return but still disappointing when you're buying a new product.

Other Thoughts: At full price, this unit is definitely NOT worth the price. Even at the discounted shell-shocker price I received I'm still not sure I want to keep it -- I would have definitely returned it over the battery issue alone if I wasn't just planning to use it for roadtrips in the car with the kids.

WRT the previous comment regarding the plastic screen protector coming off in strips, mine came off with no problems... just go slow to avoid tearing it.
