Pros: +It does what it says... quickly burns DVDs and CDs.
+It's surprisingly quiet... not a whole lot of noise when burning a disc.
+SATA connection is nice.
-It's not a VCR :(
Other Thoughts: I bought this to replace an old IDE HP DVD/CD burner. I have 2 IDE hard drives, and don't feel like opening my case and switching cables around every time I need to burn a DVD. The first thing I noticed was that it's nearly half the weight of my old drive, which is nice when having to move my tower to open it up for maintenance.
The price point as well as the many positive reviews are what contributed to my choice for this specific drive over any other that were available. The SATA connection is a definite plus, and it seems to transfer/burn data more smoothly than the old drive that it's replacing.
I may replace it with a Bluray drive at some point, but not for the foreseeable future. I would definitely recommend the drive to anyone looking for a quality low cost SATA DVD/CD burner.
Pros: +Quick - Read / write speeds are quick, as I expect them to be with an SATA hard drive.
+Quiet - I can barely even hear the thing spin when booting up or copying files... nice!
Cons: -First one was DOA -- spent 2 days struggling before managing to run WD's disc diagnostics - all of which failed.
-It's incompatible with my flux capacitor... now how will I time travel?!?!
Other Thoughts: While it was rather disappointing and frustrating that the first one was DOA, Newegg has always been great and the RMA process was quick and painless. Within a few days I had a replacement WD drive in my hands.
I work in tech support myself, so I understand that DOAs happen sometimes, especially in the technology sector of business. I was disappointed, but it's not nearly enough for me to knock off any eggs.
I have another 500 GB WD Blue drive that's been kicking for well over 4 years now, and is still going strong. When I purchase a WD hard drive, I know I'm getting a quality drive that will last. I expect nothing different from this drive.
It's great to add as a storage/backup drive, or as a bootable drive, as I've had no trouble with it at all. I recommend WD drives to everyone.
This review is from: Rosewill Stallion Series RD500-2SB 500W ATX12V v2.2 Power Supply
Pros: +Great quality.
+Puts out the power that it's supposed to.
+Connectors for most common drives/cards.
Other Thoughts: This is a great PSU for the price point. If you're looking for something that puts out enough power for most low to mid-end builds, but doesn't cost a ton of money, this is a great PSU to go with.
I've always used Rosewill PSUs, and have never had any issues. If you plan on building a high-end gaming rig that you're gonna overclock, this may not be the best choice to go with, and you'll want to get something that produces more than 500W. However, if your plan is that you just want a nice PSU with a rig that you don't need to OC, then this is absolutely a great choice.
