Pros: Cayman here...no problems. These are quiet, all 5 came and worked great have been using for over a month, good performance and energy consumption, good job here guys.
Cons: The price of these could be a little better, and 3 TB is so passe
Other Thoughts: I usually have skipped reds because of the price point but I figured id give them a try. The warranty is very nice, and the performance is worth the price if you have the $READ FULL REVIEW
Pros: I wanted to upgrade my QNAP ts 420 which had served me well the last two or so years. I was shopping when I came across this model. This had 5 bays, 4 cores for about the same price as others with only 4 bays. I upgraded the ram to 8gb immediately (soon 16gb) added 4 3TB WD reds and 1 240 GB SSD as a cache drive. The performance was much better than the arm 1ghz ts420. This has many many applications since this is intel based. I use virtualization station constantly (wondering how i could have lived without it) and have several VMs that I use regularly with above average performance. The AMD processor is pretty good and in my opinion comparable to a later core 2 duo. This does not have a VGA out so using this with a monitor is out. I have been using Qnaps for years (this is my 3rd) and I have been very happy with their products. Their forums are fantastic for researching issues and workarounds and again for the money you won't find much better functionality. If you want better performance with this many bays, be prepared to spend 800+ Finally, The transfer speeds were good, I didn't benchmark in my environment (sorry) but they were some what better than the ts-420 that I had before. I run an Asus AC87U router with all cat 6 in the house and transfer speeds are inline with a upper end soho NAS.
Cons: The processor is OK, I have ran windows xp-10 on this, ubuntu, etc. and the VMs perform adequately. If you want to test apps and poke around this will definitely work for you (with 8 GB) but please keep in mind that this is not for high performance or gaming by any means. The power consumption is meh. Intel does it better, but cost is way more...AMD it is.
Other Thoughts: I hope they make more of these AMD models, the price is right and they compete with Intel. Great Multimedia applications and the feature set that QNAP has available from their app store is really excellent, good job with this one guys!READ FULL REVIEW
