This review is from: HP 124A Magenta LaserJet Toner Cartridge (Q6003A)
Pros: As with most printers both toner and inkjets, the magenta tends to go quickly. The HP 2600 series are a good performer for a small office that prints lots of color. Photos look balanced and aren't too glossy or halftone screened looking.
Cons: newegg deleted this from my order saying they were out of stock, in came back in stock the next day at a higher price.
The 2605dtn develops a mottled background as cartridges age. Wiping corona wire helps somewhat.
Other Thoughts: my office supplier is more expensive but more reliable.
I got credited with the lower price, now I have to re buy it at the higher price. but not from newegg...
Pros: Great image quality, not photo perfect but they don't claim that. Mechanically flawless out of the box.
Full feature list for the price.
Toner page ratings are realistic, printing mostly photos we are getting k=1500p, c=1000p , m=1000p, & y=1300p.
Newegg shipped from NJ to central NY in 2 days! instant gratification.
Cons: No job monitor/cancel thru web interface. Would hang on some large jobs, but ram should be upgraded to start with and pcl drivers should not be used.
Default driver installation takes forever and adds useless card reader to your drive list.
Other Thoughts: Use the postscript drivers!
Don't use the autorun installation, find the drivers dir on the cdrom, and do a manual installation on a tcp/ip port. Wish it took more common ram like plain pc100.
Don't expect perfect results from copier paper, gotta use at least economy color laser 24# paper. Still cheaper than coated.
