Thermaltake Riing 12 RGB Series High Static Pressure 120mm Circular RGB LED Ring Case/Radiator Fan - Triple Pack - CL-F042-PL12SW-B

Pros: I have 3 of these set up on a 360 radiator in my water-cooled system. They are software controlled using PWM(Aquero) and run from around 800 to 1600 RPM. There is a button that puts them in "low speed" mode that changes them to 400 to 1000 RPM.

All three fans are connected to the included controller which is then connected to a 4-pin fan output. This leads to an issue that some people might have with them. You must connect the control board between the fan and your computer. The fans come with 5-pin connectors that can not be connected to a PC. It may be possible to still power them with a 3 or 4 pin output but I suspect that the LED's would not work correctly. I think that the extra pins on the fan cable allow the LEDs to be independently controlled from the fan speed. This means that they never dim when reducing their RPMs!

The control board has three 5-pin connections for fans. There is one connection for a 4-pin motherboard output. Also, it looks as though you may be able to daisy-chain several boards together as there is an extra empty control board connection.

There are 3 buttons on the controller. The first button cycles through the default colors so you can quickly change their style. The second button is a "Play" and "Pause" toggle that allows the colors to cycle through all of the fans 256 variations. It moves pretty quickly, but not so fast that it's hard to find the color you're looking for. Just press the button once to start the cycle and once to select your color. The fan remembers the selection between powering on and off your computer. The final button switches between "hi" and "low" speeds and has a LED that changes color from blue to red to indicate which mode they are in.

As a bit of a fan collector, I enjoy trying out new fans. I am always on the lookout for one that has the perfect degree of performance, price and style. The RPG Riing fans are a very nice combination of the above. They have a nice level of RPM control while not adding any perceptible motor noise doing so. They are priced right under $20 each when buying the 3-pack, so they are competing with the upper-end of fan competition. I am sure the extra circuitry involved in the RBG control adds quite a bit to their cost. But Being able to change to any color I want(or off) is a great option that makes these fans truly unique.

Finally, given their low noise and high performance, these are fantastic fans that I can highly recommend to anyone.

Cons: The jacket on the cable is a little stiff and long. Seriously, the fan cable is probably around a foot and a half. This may be a positive if you have a big case, but could be a hassle in a smaller build.

5 out of 5 eggs Super Efficient Interior 03/02/2011

This review is from: Corsair Graphite Series 600T Black Steel / Plastic ATX Mid Tower Computer Case

Pros: Very well designed case, build quality is top notch. Easy to hide extra wiring allowing for improved airflow. Nice big fans with the ability to add a 2x120mm radiator in the top of the case; for those interested in water cooling. Much more sturdy and heavy-duty than the pictures give it justice for.

Cons: The 2 200mm fans don't have the ability to turn off the led. They also don't push too much air; but they are quiet. No eSata front panel input. The USB 3.0 requires a pass-through to the connection on the rear of your MB. A little pricey.

Other Thoughts: Style is something that some love and others loath. Personally, I like the style and love the features. Highly recommended!
