5 out of 5 eggs Got Giga? 06/22/2015

This review is from: LINKSYS LGS105 Smart 5-Port Gigabit Switch

Pros: Rock solid Linksys based on their legacy Ethernet switches, only these support Giga Ethernet.

Cons: none

Other Thoughts: I've been upgrading to a Giga LAN as I replaced legacy equipment. When I upgraded to TWC 300Mbps service my Linksys Ethernet switches were the only link keeping me at 100Mbps. A quick order from Newegg and two days later the LAN is rocking at 300Mbps. Woo Hoo!

Before you call support complaining about 100Mbps on your 'up to (some higher number)' service, check that your LAN supports Giga Ethernet end to end.

SAMSUNG 850 EVO MZ-75E500B/AM 2.5

  • Owned For: 1 month to 1 year

Pros: 2 million hours MTBF! That's 228 years folk. Also 3D tech offers a significant performance boost over already blazing fast legacy SSDs.

Cons: Price, but worth it.

Other Thoughts: I have burned down two legacy SSDs doing SETI at home 24/7. Legacy SSDs had know issues with read/write limits. The new Samsung EVO 3D SSDs have solved those issues while making significant performance gains.

Antec High Current Gamer Series HCG-900 900W ATX12V v2.3 / EPS12V v2.91 SLI Certified CrossFire Certified 80 PLUS BRONZE Certified Active PFC Power Supply - Intel Haswell Fully Compatible
  • Verified Owner
  • Owned For: 1 month to 1 year

Pros: Paired with ASRock Fatal1ty X99M Killer motherboard, i7 5960X Haswell, XFX Core Edition R9-295X-8QFA Radeon R9 (power hog), G.Skill ripjaws 16Gb DDR4, Samsung 850 EVO SSD, Western Digital Green 4TB HDD, etc. Barley gets warm even when doing 4k video editing.

Cons: Hard wired harness, not modular like many of their other models.

Other Thoughts: Added up all the maximum load ratings and came in at ~800 watts so it works great.
