Decent laptop for the price
Pros: Good performance for the price. I was able to run Street Fighter IV at native resolution at about 40fps with graphics settings set to low. You can use it as a gaming laptop for older games. Will run day-to-day applications like browsers, flash video just fine.
Cons: 1. Battery life is only about 1.5 hours to 2 hours. 2. Keyboard is only average. The keys are completely flat and very "soft". It takes some getting used to if you are coming from a "raised key" keyboard so dont be frustrated if on the first day your experience is bad. But at least the keys are large so its not too bad. 3. The GPU is using DDR2. If Asus had put GDDR3 instead, the performance would have been higher. 4. No HDMI, no e-sata, no expresscard.
Overall Review: Is a decent low cost desktop replacement. The CPU and GPU are both midrange but the price is also good. Does come with a lot of bloatware. Overall build quality is solid. Speakers and touchpad are decent. Would have liked HDMI though.
Awesome value for money
Pros: Great specs for the price. The processor is fast, the GPU is pretty decent, the 1080p matte screen is great. Get about 4 hours of battery life doing just web surfing, which is fair for a machine of this power. Is not heavy for a machine of this performance class. Keyboard takes a little getting used to, but has decent feedback and is not mushy at all. Speakers are great. Very happy with the machine.
Cons: Setting up the Nvidia graphics is tricky under Ubuntu, thanks to Optimus. However, Bumblebee project + Nvidia proprietary drivers finally did the trick.
