Pros: Whisper quiet, powerful, great deal with free borderlands 2.
Cons: None so far.
Other Thoughts: This card is awesome with benchmarks doubled or more of my Asus 5870 on futuremark and batman ac. I haven't tried over clocking it yet but the reviews were promising. Slightly shorter than my 5870 increasing my airflow. So far im in love.READ FULL REVIEW
This review is from: ASRock X58 Supercomputer LGA 1366 Intel X58 ATX Intel Motherboard
Pros: Honestly after my frustration it's hard to think of a pro at the moment.
Newegg was a huge help as usual.
Cons: After returning board after board to Newegg trying to get one of the newer rev. I finally got one after dealing directly with AsRock. However my happiness was short lived.
I've had nothing but problems with this board. it's supposed to be an overclocking beast. I find it hard to believe since I can't even get it to run at a stable at default settings.
Whether the problem is board locking up during posting to bios... or the system freezing in mid operations of windows it was just glitchy as hell. Needless to say the board was not going to be an OC machine as intended.
AsRock's tech support I will say was very helpful and couldn't ask for more. I know that they aren't miracle workers nor was it their fault for such a product. However after I was told that its possible that my replacement board may not be new I said forget it.
I probably wouldn't buy an AsRock board again after this experience.. sorry AsRock.. I'm sure it was just a bad batch but still I'm paying for qua
Other Thoughts: As I stated Newegg was awesome in their return policy trying to get me the correct revision of the board.
AsRock Was awesome in trying to trouble shoot the problem and had some helpful suggestions. Sadly none of them worked.
The board never functioned as it was intended and not even remotely close to anything stable enough to over clock. I dropped my same components into an EVGA board and boom up and running, nice and stable from the get go.
Now I just have to figure out how to recoup some of the cost of the $300 board that was just a waste. Not to mention the shipping charges back and forth for numerous exchanges.
Pros: The price was awesome. $84 prior to shipping and after rebate. The reviews of the card are amazing and I don't doubt them for a minute.
Cons: Pretty boring package of software/extras and no crossfire link. compatibility issues with the Asus A8N VM CSM motherboard/bios.
Other Thoughts: Undocumented Compatibility issues with the Asus A8N VM CSM motherboard/bios. Here are my system specs:
300gig seagate HDD
2 Gigs Ram
400w enermax libery PSU
Asus A8N VM CSM motherboard **
After installation I couldn't get a signal. Using the IGP I opened the Device Manager, there was no new device detected. Tried installing the catalyst drivers, but they couldnt detect the card either. I thoguht it might be the psy, however the enermax is a quality psu and should be able to handle the card. After contacting customer support they declared it defective and Newegg replaced it quickly.
After a day of testing the new card I had the same issues. This time I installed a 700w psu to rule that out. Still no signal. Newegg gave me a full refund.
I'm guessing that the Powercolor 4830 doesn't work well with the Asus A8N VM CSM Mobo... or its possibly because you can't disable the IGP in the BIOS. Newegg has been great throughout this trouble shooting.
