This review is from: Western Digital WD800JD Hard Drive
Pros: They're cheap and most function.
Cons: As noted in initial review, 2/5 I ordered had data already on them. Another failed within a couple weeks (it is still semi-functional, but BSODs and has hard system hangs, fails SMART checks). Another is struggling and hangs for long periods of time when it needs to retrieve minimal amounts of data, but does usually recover, though it sometimes fails to boot, which is a PitA since it's a remote machine.
Other Thoughts: Given the failure rate (though I have a low sample size), I won't be buying WD refurbs again, even though they're still ultimately cheap given a 40% defect rate (not worth the headaches and down-time). WD needs to check with whoever's claiming to refurb these drives and intervene (or fix their own process).READ FULL REVIEW
This review is from: AMD Gift - SimCity Game Coupon
Pros: 12.5% validity rate is better than 0%.
Cons: I received two sets of 4 cards. On the first set, all of the codes were already used. Without much bother, Newegg kindly sent me another four codes. One of the four codes worked. The CSR I had was (understandably) a bit hesitant about believing my story and asked for a picture of the codes taken matching screenshots of me entering the codes. I did this, and now another three codes are on their way.
On top of this, I received another 4 codes today from a new order. I haven't tested these ones, yet... putting off the irritation.
Other Thoughts: I'm pretty curious what the problem on these is. None of the codes are scratched, so I'm guessing someone at EA leaked the codes or the code generation algorithm was cracked or stolen. Probably nothing wrong on Newegg's side... hope they get refunded for the bad codes.READ FULL REVIEW
This review is from: APEVIA ATX-CB700W 700W ATX12V / EPS12V SLI Ready CrossFire Ready Power Supply
Pros: Two independent rails is nice and the price is right. Ordered 8, and all 8 are working perfectly fine, even though they have ~600W load (two 270s hashing Scrypt + rest of rig).
Cons: 3/8 of these came a bit damaged, possibly from shipping. #1 had a large dent, but the casing was fully on. #2 was the most damaged, with the exterior housing half-off. I couldn't bang it fully back into place (but it runs fine). #3 had the exterior housing ~1/4 off, and I was able to bang it back into place.
They run a bit hot. If I could easily measure the temperature, I'd probably be worried. Actually... I am pretty worried about these, which is why I'm running better lines to the aluminum/dirt horse barn so I can move rigs using these PSUs there.
Other Thoughts: Blue LED is obnoxious, but some people are into that.READ FULL REVIEW
