Pros: Lots of features and the DSM 6.0 is easy to operate. TortoiseSVN is easy to setup for file version control and the app is part of the Synology software.
Cons: The support for the Synology NAS may have a problem. I would suggest you see the Synology forums about this and other units.
I have a DS713+ which has been running for over 4 years, purchased from Newegg. It's been running 24/7 with no problems.
The DSM's, since 5.2-5565, have had a problem and Synology support is flooded with contacts. The hardware is good and will server well, just don't upgrade the DSM until you check.

Pros: cheap way to attach extra monitors
Cons: On my Asus 6PX58D machine, this adapter only powers up half the time I boot the computer. Installed all the new drivers. I have to unplug the usb cable and reconnect. All my icons get scrambled.READ FULL REVIEW
Pros: Solid construction with nice slide out tray. Tray held in with 2 thumb screws. Screws provided for drive installation. Comes with a USB cable and drivers for Win98 if needed. I installed the optical drive (iHSB112 BD) and connected eSATA to computer. Win7 Ultimate installed the necessary drivers and the Intel Storage Console.
The fan is whisper quiet!
Other Thoughts: I use the genuine StarTech ESATA cable, 5SATA3 which is a shielded cable.
My thought is if the enclosure has to be RMA'd 2 or 3 times, there is something wrong in the computer or the cable used (assuming Vista or Win7)
