Good card for a work machine

Asus GT640-DCSL-2GD3 GeForce GT 640 Graphic Card - 1 GPUs - 901 MHz Core - 2 GB GDDR3 SDRAM - PCI-Express 3.0 x16
Asus GT640-DCSL-2GD3 GeForce GT 640 Graphic Card - 1 GPUs - 901 MHz Core - 2 GB GDDR3 SDRAM - PCI-Express 3.0 x16

Pros: Bought the card to allow me to use three monitors with my work machine. Does the job very well. Installation was trivial, no issues installing drivers or configuring the card. Card has worked perfectly with the three monitors, and I've got a 4th video port available if I ever have yet another monitor I want to hook up. As I sit quite close to the computer I also like that it is a fanless design. No troubles with the card running too warm either, I was a little worried about that. The card is quite tall due to the heat pipes but there are no issues at all fitting it into a standard sized case. My machine is a vanilla HP Z200 and the card has plenty of room between the upper edge of the card and the case. I run Visual Studios, MS Office apps, and other similar business apps - for which the card works perfectly. I don't use the machine for any gaming at all so have no opinion on how the card would behave there.

Cons: Nothing, really. Only thing that's close to a con is the card has a variety of video connectors on it. For me the mix was exactly what I needed to support the monitors I have. Someone else may find the selection of connectors less to their liking depending on their needs.

Overall Review: Glad I picked this card, the others I looked at I'm sure would have been good cards too, but this was the right card for me.

Most Critical Review

Nice power supply but not reliable

CORSAIR HX Series HX750 750 W ATX12V 2.3 / EPS12V 2.91 SLI Ready CrossFire Ready 80 PLUS GOLD Certified Modular Active PFC Power Supply New 4th Gen CPU Certified Haswell Ready
CORSAIR HX Series HX750 750 W ATX12V 2.3 / EPS12V 2.91 SLI Ready CrossFire Ready 80 PLUS GOLD Certified Modular Active PFC Power Supply New 4th Gen CPU Certified Haswell Ready

Pros: Physically well designed, pluggable design makes for clean builds. Very quiet, cables are long enough to accommodate nearly any build, quality connectors on the cables.

Cons: Too high a failure rate, I've had two identical supplies fail in under two years of operation. On the first failure (after around 9 months) I thought 'well, these things happen, I just drew the short straw this time'. Now the second supply has failed after about the same amount of time.

Overall Review: Computer in which the power supply was installed does run 24/7 so it has many hours on it but very few power cycles. Also power to the computer is through a high quality online backup power supply so it should always have had clean AC input.

It just works.

Samsung EP-PG920IBUGUS Wireless Charging Pad with 2A Wall Charger - Black Sapphire
Samsung EP-PG920IBUGUS Wireless Charging Pad with 2A Wall Charger - Black Sapphire

Pros: Plug it in, put the phone on top of it, that's all you need to do. Charges the phone quickly.

Cons: Can be a little touchy if you use a thicker case like a Otterbox. But with a use or two you'll figure out how to place the phone on the pad so it's not an issue. Also the blue "charging" light is a little dim if you're in a brightly lit room, but no big deal.

Overall Review: I'm out on Newegg today to buy another one, so that should answer the "would you buy it again" type questions.

Died after 15 months

CORSAIR HX Series HX750 750 W ATX12V 2.3 / EPS12V 2.91 SLI Ready CrossFire Ready 80 PLUS GOLD Certified Modular Active PFC Power Supply New 4th Gen CPU Certified Haswell Ready
CORSAIR HX Series HX750 750 W ATX12V 2.3 / EPS12V 2.91 SLI Ready CrossFire Ready 80 PLUS GOLD Certified Modular Active PFC Power Supply New 4th Gen CPU Certified Haswell Ready

Pros: Good construction, generous cable length, heavy gauge wire in the cables. Connectors well made and plenty of them. Modular cable design reduces clutter. Fan is quiet. Case is nicely finished, no sharp edges, etc. I can't say a bad word about the physical design of the power supply.

Cons: Died after 15 months of use in a pretty ordinary PC. no heavy loads, good case (Corsair) with plenty of ventilation, clean environment. Pretty definite failure too. Loud pop, a couple sparks flew out of the case, tripped a 15A circuit breaker on a dedicated circuit. At least there wasn't any doubt the PS had died.

Overall Review: I bought this second power supply as a replacement for my first Corsair power supply that died after aprox. 18 months of use as I could reuse the modular cables and not have to strip down the cabling. I may regret it but I replaced this second power supply with a Corsair HX850 for the same reasons. I'm doing this because despite my experiences they have many good reviews and usually seem to be solid and give good service. If however it also fails early I'm pretty sure that will be it for me with Corsair power supplies.
