Pros: If the card works it's pretty boss, but that's just the 7970 in general.
Cons: This will be my third review of the card. Let me just say that is one review for every time I've had to RMA this card and the tally will soon be up to four. First card was DOA, second card worked for about a month then started artifacting, and the replacement Sapphire gave me arrived yesterday only for me to discover that it randomly crashes in any graphically intensive game. Three strikes and you're out, I'm never buying Sapphire again. Oh, they also make you pay return shipping for their RMA service, so I've sunk even more money into this card through RMA returns and still don't have a working one. Three dud cards in a row, won't be surprised to see the fourth whenever I get it. Save yourself the pain and get ANY other brand.READ FULL REVIEW
Pros: As listed before, it's quiet. Now able to boot, I can see it runs pretty cool as well. Running Furmark with the default fan profile my max temp was 76C. Even with the fan cranked all the way up the noise it generates is just barely noticeable over the rest of the system. Performance is as expected: Absolutely amazing. BF3 runs at about 90 FPS in multiplayer with everything on ultra, 4 x AA and SSAO @ 1440x900. I overclocked it a bit (1200/1600) but it's still an amazing performer. However, that leads us to the cons
Cons: Despite running extremely cool, my particular card didn't take to overclocking very well. The furthest I could push it was 1200 MHz core clock. After that it would just lock up in-game without fail. Even at 1200 MHz, there's a fair bit of odd graphical corruption that flickers in and out. To eliminate that I run most games at 1150 MHz now. Was hoping for a bit more. Also, the card does have a bit of sag at the end. Without some sort of brace, I can see it getting pretty bad a year or two down the road.
Other Thoughts: I was hoping for better OC headroom, but even without an overclock the card is amazing.READ FULL REVIEW
Pros: The card looks very nice, and it runs very quiet it seems. Definitely digging the design.
Cons: Unfortunately, my card arrived DOA. Won't display any video, and mobo won't post with this card plugged in (I get error code 62, PCH initialization and the VGA LED on the mobo stays on, indicating a graphics card issue) I tried it in a friend's system to make sure it wasn't some kind of compatibility issue, and he gets the same problem. Card was totally dead from the get-go.
Looking at the one other review on here at the time, he ordered two and one was defective so by review standards, that's 1 for 3. Not very good so far. I thought Sapphire was supposed to be one of the better brands.
Other Thoughts: Admittedly, defective products do happen, although DOA's should be rather rare. If they're not, then that means a company isn't doing a very good job of quality control. I RMA'd for a replacement and will give this card another chance. If it's working, then I will update this review.READ FULL REVIEW
