ASUS VG248QE Black 24
  • Verified Owner
  • Owned For: 1 week to 1 month

Pros: For gaming, this is perfect for anyone using it on a desk setup. The size is pretty much perfect as well. The matte finish doesn't reflect the light which helps in a lighted room. The fit and finish is well done, you can swivel the base, and rotate for vertical SHMUPS as well.

Finally the price is perfect - you really can't find a better value. And if you want 3d, you have 3d capability as well.

Cons: -The menu is not the easiest to navigate, also the text needs a lot of adjusting due to the high brightness.

Other Thoughts: If you game, this really is the standard in my opinion.

Logitech G930 Wireless Gaming Headset with 7.1 Surround Sound (981-000257R)

Pros: I have owned a variety of headsets and only one previous pair with surround sound capability. I always tried to prevent using a USB headset to help keep my precious CPU power for the games I am running but with a new i7, I figured I have some headroom.

I plugged in the USB receiver in a back USB port, installed the Logitech software and I was ready to rock and roll with 7.1 sound. I tested out music first and a couple tests. Everything checked out.

I booted up BF4 to test it out, and I was really, really impressed, for the first time every with a headset, I thought my surround system was on because it gave me such a sense of spacial awareness, I felt like I wasn't wearing headphones at all. They are light, and give enough space on your ears, it really is a great option.

The voice clarity is fantastic, I have a regular directional mic for podcasts, and most headset mics are not very good and end up giving your voice a very high, tin-quality, this mic appears to give a nice full sound from my tests. Not to mention the easy "flip off" to mute your mic, or just use the hot key on the left ear.

The G-Keys allow you to map them to whatever you want - even in-game actions if you want. Not sure why I would want to lift my hand to my head to initiate an action...but the option exists. The volume is in a good spot and the button has a nice feel and very responsive.

The charge stand offers plenty of cord, and works just like a normal wired headset would.

LED indicators on the headset allow you to see if you are low on battery , also you can set up desktop alerts as well. This comes in handy so you are not interrupted mid-skype conversation!

Cons: My only concern is the battery life, I have not had it long enough to test it out completely, but I do know buying a replacement battery is cheap- so this appears to be an easy fix. No other complaints as of late, for the price, this is a great headset.
