2 out of 5 eggs died after 2 years, 1 month 02/21/2011

This review is from: Seagate FreeAgent Desk 1TB USB 2.0 3.5" External Hard Drive ST310005FDA2E1-RK Silver

Pros: good looking and quiet

Cons: stopped working at 2 years

Other Thoughts: From some comments, I guess 2 years is a long time for a hard drive. I don't think so. It shouldn't stop working. It sounds like it is running so I wonder if it is just the interface.

Gateway EC Series EC1433u Cherry Red Intel Celeron M 743(1.30 GHz) 11.6

Pros: Fast for a netbook.
Screen size is great...
cool enough looking that my skeptical teenager that wanted a mac loves it.

Cons: Keyboard size is fine but the flat, apple type keys mean your fingers don't sit squarely on the keys. This is pure style over function

Other Thoughts: bigger than most netbooks to allow a useable size screen but it is so thin and sleek, you get the benefit of the portability of a netbook. The battery in this one is nicely tucked away unlike our last acer. Can't emphasize enough how important the "cool" factor is in acceptance by my daughter.. why spend 1300 on a macbook when this is PERFECT at 400 bucks.. more portable, fast, big screen, totally compatible with everything etc. Just wish those keys had an indent (another thing to hate mac about...why are all the pc makers emulating this?!?!
