Acer Aspire AS5742Z-4685 NoteBook Intel Pentium dual-core P6100 (2.00GHz) 4GB Memory 320GB HDD Intel HD Graphics 15.6

Pros: Excellent Value, Look and Feel. Got a great deal on it $400. Everything worked. CPU fast enough for most normal/basic tasks. Good at browsing web, running Excel/Word/Picassa. Can play YouTube on HDTV via HDMI. Has enough RAM and HD for most people

Cons: From the start HD was making weird noises. But everything was working. At 7 weeks, it started spontaneously rebooting. Tried restoring from DVDs I made when I received NoteBook. Restore process completes about 90% and then does the reboot again. Too late to return to NewEgg. Called Acer, explained the problem and what I'd done to try to fix. They issued RMA immediately. BUT... I have to send it to their Service Center in TX (I am in NY) and pay $19 for S/H. Local authorized repair costs $200 out of pocket -- what a ruse!

Other Thoughts: it's still in transit. so not sure how long it might take and what I am going to get back. Will update later. Right now I am w/o a NoteBook for 5days already.

XFX HD-467X-ZDF2 Radeon HD 4670 1GB 128-Bit DDR2 PCI Express 2.0 x16 HDCP Ready Video Card
  • Verified Owner
  • Owned For: 1 day to 1 week

Pros: Reasonable price, doesn't require its own power, running on my "small" 300W power supply. 25-50% improvement over my integrated 4200 HD

Cons: 2xDVI + S-Video port, NO HDMI! My integrated card has HDMI

Other Thoughts: I have a 6m old hp bottom of the line desktop with small 300w ps. I do NO gaming. I got this card to drive my 2 1080p 24" ASUS monitors. It does that VERY WELL. Also it sped up my iTunes and Hulu a whole bunch. It obviated upgrade of a psu -- which is too much hassle (for me)
