This review is from: Seagate Expansion 3TB USB 3.0 3.5" Desktop External Hard Drive STBV3000100
Pros: Good price.
Cons: Original purchase - disk failed within 9 months of purchase. Replaced by RMA.
RMA refurb - enclosure failed to function less than a year after replacement, requiring that the drive be removed and placed in another enclosure purchased separately.
Other Thoughts: Warranty on external drives is lousy - only 1 year. This might just be the industry standard, but it's still lousy.READ FULL REVIEW
Pros: Grabbed 3 of these online that were "scavenged" from DVR systems and have been running them in a RAID0 (always on, never spun down) for over a year with zero problems. SMART status shows they are still in excellent health - I'd highly recommend these over any Seagate drive I've used.
Cons: Not very high capacity compared to others on the market now
Other Thoughts: A good choice if you don't need much space, or need to buy a lot of spindles.READ FULL REVIEW
This review is from: Rosewill Mechanical Keyboard RK-9000BR with Cherry MX Brown Switch
Pros: Newer versions seem to have some epoxy under the USB connector on the board, which does seem to help a lot with preventing breakage on the solder joints since the solder isn't directly handling any movement stress.
Also, the RMA process is a breeze for replacing failed units covered by warranty (and the RMA team is very helpful)
Cons: Older unit:
-USB port broke - repairs ended up requiring me to solder wires from the cord directly to the board.
-Key/Switch Broken: Asterisk key on NUM pad has stopped functioning, entirely, and looks like it will require soldering repair.
-Key/Switch Broken: Minus key on NUM pad broken. Thankfully this one is under warranty, so this is being processed as an RMA as of now.
Other Thoughts: Purchased 2 of these before I started having issues. I would not purchase these again if I could go back - save up, and go for something higher quality, even if it means spending nearly double.READ FULL REVIEW
