Pros: The DL380p is a great server. I have put several into service, and have had good experience with them
Cons: After wasting almost a week of my time, during which I had reassured my customer that the server was on it's way, I get an email from newegg and antonline saying the order has been cancelled, didn't bother to explain why :-/
Other Thoughts: This review is NOT ABOUT THE ITEM, it is about newegg.
For as long as I've been in the IT field, newegg has always been my go to for parts. For years they've served a certain market and they've served it VERY WELL.
But ever since newegg is trying to be the next amz (that's right, they wouldn't let me spell it out, lol), my buying experience and satisfaction with them has gone way down!
The first sign that newegg was forgetting who they were was when I started seeing home appliances on the site. I remember thinking "I come to newegg for computers/servers and parts, NOT appliances!" But ok, whatever, I'll just click into the category I'm looking for, no biggie.
Then my orders started coming in on multiple shipments, sometimes from several different vendors.
If I wanted the "amz experience" i.e. have items in my order come from any number of vendors I've never heard of, I would go to amz. I come to newegg because you can't beat the price/service. Or at least, that USED TO BE the case...
The server I'm replacing has a bad motherboard. It still runs, but USB ports are going out, another port failing every week or two. Thanks to newegg/antonline, I'm now scrambling to replace a server that could croak at any second!
Sorry for the long rant, I'm just long time customer who is really dissappointed at what newegg is becoming.
Pros: Windows 7 Pro
Cons: First disappointment, the stand on this PC doesn't look anything like what's pictured on newegg, though the model number seems to match.
Secondly, the screen has an off-white overtone that makes it look like an old LCD that's about to call it quits. As one of my colleagues put it, "it looks like a ten-year-old monitor!"
Other Thoughts: This thing has got to be a lemon! I can't believe that any company would think the display on this thing is passable for a computer made within the last ten years.
I'm too embarrassed to even let my client see it! I'll see what I can do about a replacement or (fingers crossed) a refund, and do a follow up review.
