Yamaha RX-V377 5.1 Channel AV Receiver

5 out of 5 eggs Incredible value 09/16/2014

This review is from: Yamaha RX-V377 5.1 Channel AV Receiver

Pros: 110W/channel dynamic power is as good as it gets for <$500. This receiver is an incredible value, for its sound quality, features, ports, and relatively small physical size. The "enhancer" filter is awesome for TV. And the ability to delay audio to the millisecond is wonderful, in order to match the delay to your TV's processing lag. The scene buttons are also nice. The receiver can of course convert 2-channel input audio to come out on 4 or 5.1 speakers.

Cons: I think some settings like the sound fields are only accessible behind a remote button, which is slightly confusing.

Other Thoughts: The price is unbelievable for this level of sound quality and features.

New Wired Analog Headset Microphone/Headphone with 3.5mm for PC Notebook/Laptop Computer

  • Owned For: less than 1 day

Pros: Cheap

Cons: The actual frequency response is about 45-13500Hz, not 8-20000Hz!

The ear fitting is poor, leaving an air gap on the bottom. And sound quality is dismal.

1 out of 5 eggs False spec on frequency response! 03/21/2014

This review is from: TekNmotion TM-YW100A 3.5mm Connector Circumaural White Yapster Universal Gaming Headset

Pros: Good value, ear comfort, and mic quality.

Cons: They can't output tones above 13.5kHz! 1 egg for falsely claiming 20kHz.

Other Thoughts: All the reviewers claiming these have "good" sound quality don't have a clue. The mid- to low-end is far too bassy, and high-end is very poor, lacking any sort of clarity. (I know this because I'm used to listening with the Sony MDR-7506.) Do yourself a favor: spend an extra 15 bucks on nicer ones and skip eating out 3 times.
