ASUS PB Series PB278Q 27
  • Verified Owner
  • Owned For: 1 month to 1 year

Pros: Great color, contrast ratio, response time and resolution!

Cons: One of the two monitors I bought is failing just over a month of ownership. It takes noticeably longer to become recognized, it's had minor flickering for a while (I thought I was just imagining it) but now it just flashes on for 2 seconds, and then off for 10-15. I tried both DVI and Display Port to ensure it wasn't the cable. I also verified the power cable wasn't lose. Same in Linux and Windows (although the BIOS seems to see it fine).

Other Thoughts: Great monitors, but the other reviews confirm, there seems to be a bit of quality control issue surrounding the monitors. I'm trying to open a support request if I could just figure out their awful site.

Rosewill RCW-566 - 50-Foot Cat 6 Network Cable - Black
  • Verified Owner
  • Owned For: 1 month to 1 year

Pros: Bought this because my gigabit network card was dropping connections (under linux). Works like a charm!

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: Was getting frequent drops on my network card. It was suggested I should upgrade from crimped cat5 to quality cat6. Had no issues since.

4 out of 5 eggs Needs better Linux support 12/01/2012

This review is from: Intel BOXDH77KC LGA 1155 Intel H77 HDMI SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX Intel Motherboard

Pros: Works pretty flawlessly under windows. I didn't try any heavy lifting but USB 3.0 and SATA III performance was great!

Cons: Linux support was lacking. I got this board with hopes of having better hardware support in linux. I figured that since it was made by intel, there would be plenty of support out there. What I found was the ethernet would cut out about once every 5 min only to immediately come back. I tried a pci card with the same results so I must conclude it's got something to do with the motherboard and how it handles the interrupts to the processor. I tried updating to the latest e1000e driver to no avail.

Other Thoughts: Great board, just needs more linux support.
