Pros: Low cost, supports multiple PCI-e slots, 5-ports
Cons: Factory set to Raid0. Poor instructions, Even though the booklet has English instructions it can be confusing to understand. The translation between Chinese to English is rather confusing.
Other Thoughts: BE AWARE THIS CARD IS FACTORY SET FOR RAID0! I bought these cards to use in my plex media server and to run them JBOD with flexraid as my storage manager. Unfortunately I had all my data filled drives attached to these cards on start up and the cards automatically initialized Raid0 even though I had the dial set to JBOD. I downloaded the drivers and Raid Manager directly from Orico and everything installed fine to Windows 8 Pro 64-bit OS. I had to delete the raid config through Orico's software then run easus data recovery wizard to get my data back. All is fine now and they do the job as a sata port multiplier. Be sure to follow the clear raid and reset instructions before hooking any drives up to it if you plan to run JBOD and keep your data. Otherwise I never tested any of the raid configs to help with this review.READ FULL REVIEW
Pros: Great build quality and the price is hard to beat
Cons: Not tool-less trays
Other Thoughts: I have several Rosewill server cases with and without the hot-swap cages. When these came on sale for $30 free ship I decided to change out some of my non-hot-swap cages for these. It would be really great if Rosewill made tool-less trays for this cage.READ FULL REVIEW
Pros: Works great if you don't get a defective kit.
Cons: Had to RMA the product. My laptop continued to bluescreen over and over so I ran memtest86+ and one stick had failed miserably. (subtract 3 eggs for defective DOA)
Other Thoughts: I had this kit overnighted along with the ASUS laptop I ordered. The real winner here was UPS for getting the product to me overnight without issue both times. As for G.Skill, I am very disappointed in their quality control. Not to forget, I had to pay out of my pocket to return G.Skill’s defective product back to newegg! I’d understand if I didn’t want the item then I should have to pay for the return shipping, but it was defective and not my fault. But I do give some props to newegg for their smooth RMA process and the overnight shipping back for the replacement kit. Overall it took 5 days to get the replacement kit (3 days due to return shipping time USPS priority mail). All is well now so far with no bluescreens. (subtract 1 egg for customer having to pay for return shipping on defective product)READ FULL REVIEW
