This review is from: KINGWIN HDD-PS6 Hard Drive Power Switch to Control up to 6 HDD
Pros: Works as per specifications
Cons: Quality of build is not the best. The sides of the case is not as long as DVD drive, so if you have a tool less case like mine you might have problems. Even if you use screws, you can only use one or two on each side. Also the it's width is a probably 0.5 mm less resulting in less than snug fit.
It needs to be securely fit as you will be pressing the buttons again and again and the buttons are a bit hard, resulting in some unwanted movement.
Other Thoughts: I have another one of these, exact same thing but a different brand, the quality has definitely gone down, the older one feels much better. But this one works just fine. I guess if you have not seen the earlier versions you will probably be 100% satisfied.
Another thing that has always bugged me about these is the availability of power plugs, but the documentation never explains how many you should use. Common sense tells you that you will be using only 2, but is even two really needed, it does work with just one. Why are there two, are the supposed to be connected to the same PSU cable or different? There things are not explained anywhere. If you are system builder you kinda already know the answers but still, the documentation should provide more details.
This review is from: Windows 8.1 64-bit
Pros: Good OS overall, does its job
Cons: No start menu
Slower than windows 7 after boot
Constant CPU utilization
No Start Menu
Other Thoughts: The system boot faster than win7, BUT, even if the desktop appears, for the cpu utilization do drop to near zero takes much longer than windows 7. In win 7 it takes 25 seconds and here almost 40 seconds.
Even after the CPU utilization drops to near zero, almost constantly it will keep using between 10 to 40% of CPU doing something, even when I an not running anything.
Lack of the start menu in the desktop mode is obviously a problem, thanks to 3rd part utilities, you get it back, but there should be an option to do so by default.
Cons: Not fast enough to justify the cost
Other Thoughts: I have used 840 evo and MX100 in the past and I could not feel any difference in speed in day to use (including gaming). At some points it even seemed slower. Not worth the extra $$. But it is a fast SSD, no doubt about that.READ FULL REVIEW
