3 out of 5 eggs Package was torn open 07/22/2015

This review is from: Canon PGI-225 PGBK Black Ink Cartridge 2-Pack; 2 Black (4530B007)

Pros: It's ink

Cons: The package was torn open and the internal packing of the box was missing. Both inks were still sealed though so I didn't return.

Other Thoughts: This seems to be becoming a more common issue with Newegg and especially with their marketplace sellers. Not happy.

Pros: Cheap

Cons: Leaked, clogged, not worth the effort. I had to take the heads completely out of the printer and clean them with alcohol after using this ink to get the printer to work again.

Other Thoughts: I'm going back to Canon branded ink.

ASUS ROG PG278Q Black 27

Pros: Gorgeous for games. Love the built-in reticle option for those games that don't provide one (like Rust.) Love the g-sync and the high refresh rate. Very crisp. Good color representation once calibrated properly. Matte finish, so no reflections.

Cons: Very pricey. The color balance out of the box is horrible - I calibrated mine using a colorimeter and it will calibrate to a proper balance unlike some cheaper monitors I've used. Blacks aren't quite as black as I would like. No sensor on the stand when you rotate the display 90 degrees so Windows doesn't automatically rotate the screen. Pretty useless USB hub in it (really, I'm supposed to plug things into the far back of the monitor? Why do manufacturers do this?)

Other Thoughts: Use the enclosed video cable if at all possible. If you're a serious gamer with a ton of cash burning a hole in your pocket this high resolution screen will make your day. My justification was more on the photography side of things as I needed a high res sharp monitor for my business and I was pleased that I was able to calibrate the color nicely. I still wish blacks were blacker, but that's probably a trade-off with using a matte finish instead of glossy. I'd rather have the matte any day. One egg on the extravagant price, lack of rotation sensor and the not-so-black blacks.
