Never disappoints

ZALMAN Ultra Quiet Notebook Cooler ZM-NC1000 Black
ZALMAN Ultra Quiet Notebook Cooler ZM-NC1000 Black

Pros: Have had this model since early 2009 (going on 6 years on very frequent usage) and both fans still blow and are whisper quiet.

Cons: Doesn't fold up and somewhat bulky (but not heavy), however it still fits in my Swiss Army Wegner clam shell with a 15.4" laptop just fine. Read the dimensions to be sure it will work for your bag if you are very mobile.

Overall Review: Decided to make the plunge and spend $50 on a good, metal cooling station after having two different $25-ish plastic folding laptop cooling stations went bad after about 3 months each. I'll be purchasing another one of these and giving the very old one to my girlfriend :)

Fan Failure

MASSCOOL 8WA741 92mm Ball CPU Cooler
MASSCOOL 8WA741 92mm Ball CPU Cooler

Pros: Kept CPU very cool in comparison to motherboard/VGA

Cons: Failed shortly after 1-year warranty

Overall Review: The "long-life" ball bearing fan is failing me after just 15 months of daily usage. Average RPM is below 400. System is now unstable under heavy load as temps approach 59C. Great while it lasted.

Working strong after 7+ years

IOGEAR GCS634U MiniView USB KVM Switch with audio and cables
IOGEAR GCS634U MiniView USB KVM Switch with audio and cables

Pros: Used it daily since 2007 and still working well. Have used regularly with Windows/Linux/FreeBSD hosts with 0 issues.

Cons: Cables not thick enough, my naughty Rabbit ate through one of the embedded KVM USB cables and now I can't use that port! LoLs.

Overall Review: The only annoying thing is this doesn't work in BIOS screens of older hardware that do not recognize USB during BIOS setup, but really that's a limitation of old hardware, not the fault of this awesome device at all. Apparently I have one of the really early models too because I can do the audio-only switching, was great to keep listening to tunes from Winamp while working on Linux/FreeBSD.
